Since Merk and I first discussed the idea of a permanent ‘Mailwatch’ site, I’ve been trying to come up with a really witty pastiche ‘in the style of’ to kick us off.

Then today, faced with a deadline missed a week ago, I had what I though was an even smarter idea; “Just cut and paste the whole thing together using sound-bites from the Mail’s website. My, how they’ll smile smugly to themselves when they get the joke, just like I did.”

From a recent Simon Heffer article on proposed legislation against inciting religious hatred:

As an atheist, I couldn’t care less what religion someone observes.Equally, I know well enough that some religious people detest the beliefs of others. And they have a perfect right to do so.

You couldn’t make it up. So I read on. My original idea had involved the whole range of columnists. Sadly, it was not to be. Later, in the same article:

The majority in this country who subscribe to a broadly Christian culture would continue to bear the insults from non-Christians and Leftists who hate the nation’s traditional values.

From the list of previous articles, on the same page:

It’s Prescott who needs a ‘kicking’

Why does Britain produce such violent louts?

So I gave up. The above are just tip of the iceberg examples of why we’re here.

We’re not going to be short of material.
