    Free drugs ? Wa-hey !!!!

  2. Steve

Ah the fabled U-Turn. Even when they get their wishes they still use it to attack Nu-Liebor.

  3. Paul

A year ago when the Scots did it, wasn’t it typical nanny state lefty liberalism by the McMafia, paid for by, you guessed it, YOUR money? I presume now that middle England gets to benefit from it, it isn’t wooly minded liberal utopian thinking, but rather common sense?

  4. aljardi

Wholy agree with you Paul. Labour – damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Now The Daily Mail wants the moon on a stick (again)

  5. Matt Hurst

She getting her tits out like her mother then….

Is page 9 the new page 3 or are they trying to masquerade their porn as news.

  6. Mail Man

    Typical.

Not a word about how Barclays (by standing out of the 1st bank bail-out and now hitting trouble) have triggered this 2nd waver of costly panic.

All McBroon & ZanuLabour’s fault of course.

Of course if we really did have a red ’socialist control freakish’ Gov they would have forcibly nationalised the lot of them and ended the bankers ruinous nonsense once and for all.

    Pity we don’t?

  7. glueballz

So I guess tits > inauguration of first black US president?

  8. Kiz

Not really much you can say about this page today, except it would be nice if they didn’t attack Labour even though they’ve given them what they want. At least it’s better then the ridiculous crap on the Express.

  9. Original Paul

Is this a health story or just a bit of Scot bashing?

  10. CC

They still have to give positive news a negative spin. They are addicted to self-inflicted pain.

  11. Miss Grace

Funny that one of the most important landmark events in international political history is completely ignored by both the Mail & Express front pages.

  12. Sarah

OMG, a young girl wore something that reveals a bit of her chest. The horror! As a woman I believe we should go back to the good old days of having our head covered and wearing stockings. Nothing says shag me like heavy black dresses.

I don’t think they’ve ignored Obama for any malicious reason. It makes more sense to report it tommorrow. However, check out Mel Philips in today’s issue with her ‘Obama’s a radical’ motif. Makes good points about people thinking it’s the second coming, but they tries to make the words ‘community organiser’ sound like a radical leftist ideology. Stupid woman.

  13. NJH

“She getting her tits out like her mother then….”

Or marrying a tit like her mother then….

  14. Kiz

    Miss Grace

I wonder why they have ignored Obama becoming the most powerful man in the world? I really haven’t got a clue… :)

    Sarah

To be honest, nothing that woman says can be taken seriously. After all, she thinks globalwarming and evolution are both myths, that vaccinations are evil and that creationism must be taught in all schools over evolution. She even revealed herself to be a fanatical zionist during the Israel-Palestine conflict. So what do you expect her to say about a black socialist man becoming president of the USA?

  15. Sarah

I wouldn’t expect her to say anything else but I still express complete anger everything she indulges in her complete industrial strength douchebaggery. The one thing I have liked about her has been the articles on her blog on the antisemetic attacks after the Israeli invasion.

  16. scothmist

    FAO Steven
You talk about intellegence you dumb cunt. What makes you think I am male. Your problem is you dont think. Your surname must be Pyke. It souhln’t mttaer in waht order the ltteers ina wrod are, teh olny iprmoetnt tihng is you souhld be able to read tehm. Not you though, you are a Strut Noddy. I bet you dont know what that means. Thats because you are so stupid you dont know how stupid you are

  17. Miss Grace

    No, me neither

  18. Stevie H

    @ Scothmist

I assume you are male due to your aggression.

But as you have pointed out with your beautifully worded post above, you are clearly more intelligent than me and can get your point across both succinctly and without resortation to affront. They are also very easy to read. Congratulations.

PS My surname is not Pyke, but I get the joke.
PPS I have no idea what a “Strut Noddy” is, if that makes me “stupid” then so be it.

  19. Steph

A strut noddy is a fool, specifically a fool who doesn’t know he is a fool. To call somebody one and then berate them for not knowing 17th century slang terms is a little weird. I can only assume that his collions are quite tiny and he resorts to this to feel better about himself.

  20. Kiz

I can’t believe that Scothmist calls us dumb when he can’t even spell himself. I don’t understand a word he’s saying. Basically a classic Mail-type hypocrite. Why don’t you bugger off to where your unintelligent ramblings and pathetic opinions will be more welcomed rather than bothering any of us?

  21. NJH

Come on Kiz, it must be hard for Mail readers to type when they have so much vitriol for every planetary organism in existence who isn’t them boiling up in their veins. :)

  22. Kiz

    lol, true.

  23. Goodbyemrsaddam

In relation to the frontpage, I noticed on the Mail website someone called Sel Roberts got through the filter and put all the little Englanders in their place after they all moaned and groaned about Scotland and free prescriptions.

Horrah for Sel Roberts and the Welsh in general.

  24. aljardi

Is access to the internet allowed in secure mental health units?

  25. Steven

Scothmist – Oh dear. Is there even any need for a rebuttal? While we’re using 17th century comebacks, I’d say he’s just been hoisted by his own petard.

  26. Steven

Stevie H – I think he was referring to me, but on the wrong page (the Strut Noddy can’t even manage that) where I said he must be intellectually disabled, drunk or 7 years old with his total inability to spell even basic words or make even a single rational point.

But your comeback is pretty much what I’d have said back to him!

  27. bob roberts

Nothing in the Mail about the prospective take over of their sister paper The Evening Standard by a Russian billionaire and former KGB officer. I suspect Melanie Cynic and Littlepenis are busy penning outraged articles for tomorrow’s edition…aren’t they ?

  28. daveyp.

Kiz…you accuse Melanie Philips of being a fanatical Zionist. Well, if by that you mean that she understands Israel to be surrounded by people who seek its annihilation and that she thinks Israel has every right to defend itself against such people then yes, I guess she is fanatical. Personally, I think that if the Jews seek to protect themselves from a second holocaust then fair enough. You though obviously think that the five million Jews who live in Israel should go meekly to their deaths. Those wicked Zionists, how dare they think otherwise!

  29. MatthewS

Does Melanie Philips not realise that by calling EVERYONE who even mildly disagrees with Israel’s foreign policy anti-Semetic Nazis that she is totally diminishing any power that the word has. There is a lot of genuine anti-Semetism about (Street sellers from Israeli were attacked by SF activists in Belfast FFS!) but opposing imperialism and destruction in Gaza is NOT anti-Semetic. There are alot of brave Israelis human rights organisations who are opposing it; are they anti-Semetic? Melanie clearly has no idea what the term even means, technically an anti-Semite would hate everyone in the middle east not just Jews.

  30. Minneythekid

Scothmist – just to clarify – you’re saying that it shouldn’t matter what order the letters are in as long as you can read them? But surely if they’re in the wrong order, I might read them wrong? That could be a bit difficult in important siutations couldn’t it? For example: If I type – ‘cfku fof yuo rsea boglin’ – you might not be able to read that what I actually mean’t was ‘fuck off you arse goblin’. See? That could be bad if you couldn’t understand what I was trying to say. So in summary, it IS important to put them in the right order. Understand or would you like me to go over it again? Don’t try getting witty with us or try a war of words – because you won’t win! You silly mook (I bet you don’t even know what that means – that’s because you’re a bla bla bla………….)

    Stttteeeepppphheeennnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Sarah

Davyp you just made your own point worthless. You correctly say that saying Israel has a right to defend itself isn’t zionist, but then make a quick judgement that Kiz wants to kill all the Jews in Israel from that one comment?

Good God this is why the debate on the Gaza thing make me want to hurl.

  32. James M

scothmist: If you’re going to come on here and insult the other contributors then you could at least have the decency to express yourself in a manner that is legible to the rest of us. And, we don’t mind people disagreeing with us but at least you could do it in a manner that doesn’t involve the use of crude language. If you’re unable to show some manners then bugger off.

  33. Dave

‘after the SCOTS’….. never ceases to amaze me why the Daily Mail is such a rabid supporter of the Conservative and Unionist party and the Union when it hates the Scots, the Welsh and the Northern Irish – we’re all a bunch of Non-Aryan scroungers in its eyes. But since when was the Mail known for logic? Wonder how it will cope with the Obama inauguration. Maybe it will just be too much for Mad Mel and she’ll rapidly lose the will to live. We live in hope

  34. Steven

Dave – They only support the union because they sell papers in Scotland and Northern Ireland and have to pay lip service. At the end of the day, they only give a shit about sales, and have tapped a lucrative seam of hate. If there was more money in reporting positivity and multiculturalism, they’d be all over it.

  35. Kiz

Thanks for defending me Sarah. As for daveyp, how is saying Mad Mel’s a zionist make me an anti-semetic Nazi-loving idiot? That comment actually hurts me-I think jews all across the world have had horrible lives all these years and I’m sickened to see some of the shit they’ve had to put up with. I always take time on holocaist memorial day to remember the innocent jews who were needlessly butchered. But just because they’ve had horrible lives, it doesn’t mean they should turn on all their Arab neighbours like Palastine and Lebanon and kill them. It doesn’t make you sympathetic to their cause at all. You right wingers are always going on about how Hamas started it, but Israel fired rockets into Gaza first and have been doing it for years now.

Anyway, you can’t accuse me of wanting to kill all Jews when you support Mad Mel. I don’t know if you caught her articles recently, but that extermist zionist (Yes, she is one) said she thought Israel should kill all Palastinians in order to defend their homeland. She also constantly expresses sympathy and sadness for the 10 Israelis that have been killed, but completly ignores the 700 Palestinians that have been kiled by Israeli brutality, saying they deserved it for supporting a terrorist group. No-one deserves to be killed in such an awful way so if you want an extremist who thinks that 2 million Palestinians in Gaza should go to their deaths, look at her! I agree with Sarah-this whole Gaza debate makes me feel sick as well. I can’t believe people so passionatly defend Israel, while completly ignoring the brutal war crimes that they commit.

  36. Nick

israel often reminds me of all these stories about abused children becoming abusers. The central/eastern European jewish experience does indeed seem to be pretty damn rotten, Ghettos, Pogroms, Exile and ulimately the Final Solution.

They seem quite happy to see the Palestinians in their own ghettos, inflict them with pogroms and seem a bit bemused that they’re prepared to put up with this instead of going into exile. So far it’s only the nutters that seem to think a Final Solution would be a sensible way out. But they are out there. And they scare me.

  37. Kiz

You’re right Nick. I’ve aways thought that. Michael Moore came up with a theory in ‘Stupid White Men’ where he said that on a large scale, the abused become the abusers. And he’s right-after Afganistan was invaded by the Russains, the Taliban came into power and all that brutality started. Similarly, in Cambodia, when the Americans bombed it when they should’ve been in Vietnam, the Khamer Rouge came into power and the killing fields started. Unfortunattly, these things happen, people can’t realize that we should learn from past sufferings and not continue them, as Israel’s doing!

  38. Moggie

Mad Mel doesn’t really do nuance, does she? She inhabits a very binary, black and white world, where it’s easy to identify a particular group as either wholly bad or wholly good, and support or opposition has to be unequivocal. I don’t know what happened to her to make her this way: the real world, in which I believe she used to live, is rather more messy and difficult than that.

  39. Stevie H

    @ Minneythekid:

    Just coming!

  40. NJH

“She inhabits a very binary, black and white world”

Not just her; it’s the general mindset of many people. You seem to have to be on the side of the Israelis or Hamas, and not be able to think both are arseholes. Similarly, we in the UK can’t be contributing to climate change because China, USA, India et al do more so, the EU is ONLY pure evil or ONLY a force for good, etc.

I think I probably am anti-Semetic, but then I’m also anti-Christian, anti-Islamic, anti-Hindu, anti-anyone who bases a good proportion of their existence around imaginary characters. However, I prefer to lump all my antis under one name, which I call realism.

  41. Sarah

As someone who comes from the home of peace and reconcilliation I can see both points of view in the Gaza conflict, though not Hamas by any means. I can rationalise why people vote for them however. As someone who comes from a protestant family in Northern Ireland I know what’s like to be considered an occupyer of a country you come from. Not nice. Equally I can understand that being discriminated against, shoved in a tiny enclave and ignored by your neighbours and made to starve doesn’t exactly make for a peace process.

They both need to sit down, have a glass of water and take a chill pill.

  42. George

“So what do you expect her to say about a black socialist man becoming president of the USA?”

Obama is clearly not a socialist- in fact if you really looked into it he’d probably be slightly to the right of the current Tory party. Socilaists are not allowed anywhere near serious politics in America because of their fear of communism.

  43. John 23

It is said that the neck only understands either being the neck or the boot. The once oppressed make very good oppressors. They have good teachers.

  44. Kiz

George, I see what you’re saying, but Obama’s said he’ll help the poor people in America and increase taxes for big companies. Also, in the run-up to the election, both left and right wingers were saying he is a socialist. I feel his policies are quite socialistic and that’s opne reason why I like him so much. It’s true that a lot of Americans would confuse socialism with communism because of their extreme fear of the latter, but maybe this is one president who has slipped through the closely-guarded net.

  45. Steven

George – Obama is a socialist, and good on him too.

He’s had to disguise and water it down a lot to get elected, but its still there. To say he’s right of the Tory party is inaccurate, he’s more of a pragmatist in that he’s made right wing concessions, but the man clearly has no personal love for those policies, unlike the Tories whose core ideology revolves around them.

His background is in community work and community law, and he’s a champion of removing tax breaks for the rich and big business, improving the environment and universal healthcare. His first term will be about gradually introducing socialist policies and removing the prejudice surrounding them and making them more palatable, and if he’s elected for a second term I honestly believe his legacy at the end of 8 years will be an American style NHS.

  46. Sarah

Obama’s not socialist. John McCain backed the same policies when he ran in 2000.
