Well she probably CAN’T justify them now she has been ACCUSED of them BY the Mail. Regardless OF whether she HAS done anything wrong she is now GUILTY cos the Mail SAID SO. I can see this SPURIOUS capitalization catching on. IT REALLY HAMMERS HOME YOUR POINT.
How is that necklace going to change your life? Is it going to suddenly make you realise that the newspaper you have been reading for years is asctually a load of old cobblers?
I wonder how many times the phrase “snouts in the trough” has been peddled out in the comments section of the DM website under that headline?
Well, you could sell the necklace, £35K is a life-changing amount of money for most people.
Otherwise I really can’t see how owning a piece of jewellery will change your life, unless it means whenever you wear it people will come up to you, ask if you won it from the Express and then spit in your face for being an Express reader when you reply in the affirmative.
Is it a magical necklace that will grant me three wishes? No? I want my money back. Diamonds can’t buy happiness Daily Mail….but stories about religion can!
If the woman is trying to have an inclusive assembly does that mean there will be no prayer in Assembly at this school? (Would it be difficult to have prayer for Christians and Muslims at the same time?) Surely the Mail will be pissed about that as another sign of religion being dragged out of the schools by the secular nazis that it so hates? In saying that I am all for inclusive Assembly’s with different faiths. I don’t know how it would work though.
Well, as far as I’m concerned the litmus test of a good Home Secretary is how tightly they maintain immigration controls so as to stop our nation becoming full to overflowing. Jacqui Smith could abuse the expenses system all she likes in my book providing that she reverses New Labour’s open-door immigration policy. So yes, I agree, the DM has got its priorities wrong on this one, although my reasons for saying this are somewhat different to those which most visitors to this site will have.
Well it turns out that the Parliamentary standards committe has looked at this and however odd some of this might look they reckon Smith is acting within the law.
Like them or loathe them the fact is that it is this Labour Gov which set up the standards committee and practices are far tighter than what went on before.
That’s not to say everything is perfection or no longer in need of tightening up from time to time but the tory press and their portrayal of this Gov as being worse than anything that has gone before is laughably ignorant nonsense.
This story is utterly horrible – quite apart from the ghastly treatment dished out by a teacher who should know better, the comments reveal a great deal about the mean-spirited, prejudiced mentality of the average Mail reader. Some support the girl, but have hundreds of red arrows next to them. Disgusting.
Sam – an overflowing country is one where you have to wait
years for council accomodation (Hillingdon being a good example), weeks to see a doctor for a routine
appointment and class sizes are stretched to capacity along with public transport The real effects will take a generation or two to really come through in high birth rates but then you are probably too brain dead to see that.
Robin – would you mind taking my quarter penny then?because I don’t see why I should have to pay it. If you like someone taking the piss out of you that’s your problem not mine
-william
i would have thought having to wait ages for a doctor and poor public transport would have had more to do with there being too few doctors and a poorly funded transport system.
theres no reason a full country cant be one that works well.
and one point, the birth rate is declining, and has even been for quite some time now. or are you too brain dead too see that?
The Mail have always hated Smith.

Oops, obviously I meant the Mail. Wasn’t paying attention there/can’t tell the difference.
I’ve won what again?

What does an ‘overflowing’ country look like? I have images of people falling off cliffs into the sea…
“…that she reverses New Labour’s open-door…”
Tsk. It’s ZANU-Liebore; get with the program, daddy-o!

YAY Immigration controls ironically Labour have been far more strigent on Immigration than previous governments.
But Free Market and all….
Has the cold snap spread as far south as Egypt? Have they run out of salt there as well?

Not a lot to say on this one, really; the necklace thing is a little bizarre, but that’s about it really.
The necklace that changed their lives: How the £26,000 piece of jewellery tore them apart – then brought them closer together

well, just figured it out – £116,000 of taxpayers money divided by number of taxpayers = A little over a quarter of a penny each.

Funny- the diamond necklace should be a pearl necklace
