Compare MP’s salary (Which is a lot less than £208 000), to Fred Goodwin’s £800 000 annual pension for fucking up a major bank. I know which one makes me angry.
My local paper (South Wales Echo) recently did a report on what our local MP’s claimed for expenses in both quantity and purpose. My local MP (Jenny Willott, LD, Cardiff Central) according to the report, claimed £150,000 in expenses last year. However, over £100,000 of this was for the payment of staff (£90,000), postage costs (£1,500), communications (£6,000) and office costs (about £2,500, but this was lower than most as she shares an office with the constituency’s Welsh Assembly Government AM), before we go into anything she claims for second home allowances or travel costs, anything which some may claim as “personal” expenses, something which I am declined to disagree with.
Its amazing how much less shocking things become when you read past the headlines.

They don’t get anywhere near that much – over half off that is expenses to pay their staff and office costs……
There once was a time when journalists would work to paint an accurate picture, now they do the opposite.
