Not long ago the press viewed Michael Martin, the Speaker of the House, as a lame duck liberal lefty speaker who was one of the worst speakers in the whole of history. Now he’s a hero because he’s speaking out against MPs’ expenses. Wish they’d make their minds up.
Yes, the Mail are speaking out against the speaker for speaking out at MPs who are speaking out. The clue is in “finger-wagging tirade”, which is not something you write about someone you support.
I see the two-page spread devoted to the naughty Tory MPs didn’t include the name of David Heathcoat-Amory, listed in today’s Telegraph as the “manure-spreading Tory expense claimant”. Is this because brother David H-A is a regular Mail columnist?
Are they really suggesting that Sarah Brown is a respectable woman? after they lammented her for wearing a dress at Labour conference last year as it looked slightly like Mrs Cameron’s.
Oh and I am all for the stories on the expenses and shaming them, but it’s about time we shamed the tax exiles, would that include a certain owner of a certain newspaper?
Stevie H, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was Maggie Thatcher, given that she became PM thirty years ago this month. Why can’t people stop talking about her? She left office nearly nineteen years ago.

James,
Michael Martin wasn’t speaking out against MPs expenses he was criticising MPs who were speaking out – (such as Kate Hoey and Norman Barker).
O.. o.. o.. o… order!
I wonder if there’s any remixes of that on YouTube…

Harriet Harman?
Mr Speaker is ‘Napoleon’ in this group of self-serving pigs.
(What’s the noun for a group of pigs? I just can’t think of it ………)
A parliament of pigs?
I stand corrected!
Jacqui Smith?
Katie Price?
Amy Winehouse?
Maggie Thatcher?
The Mail despise Martin as he is Scottish working class.
Pigs are noble and amiable creatures, and unlikely to put swimming pools on expenses.
I’m not embarassed to say that I agree with the Mail on this one.

*spits out coffee* Is that *squints* good news in the Daily Mail?!!!
Anything to keep the tory MP’s expenses disaster off of the front page.
Well it’s Sarah Brown in the picture, so is it her?

Is it me or do the mail quite like Sarah Brown?
