Did they do that thing where they spin a wheel and pick a story to print? I’ve heard nothing about Tax increases. The Express is really trying too hard….hence the Jordan story.
I don’t get it; the headline says “you” are going to be taxed more, referring to its readers, and then the subheading suggests it’s aimed at the middle classes. :S
Worried that most of us aren’t actually feeling the imagined ‘vast’ tax burden they lecture us day-in day-out that we’re all supposed to be suffering they resort to a new scare tactic.
‘Middle Britain’ is obviously just the latest diversionary nonsense.
Middle Britain actually means rich Britain
(which is always screaming abject poverty and refuses to accept the truth of it’s privileged position in our society)
Given the amount of “shocks” administered by the Express and Mail on a weekly basis, it is a wonder they have any readership left – their readers must have a strong constitution to fend off all the panic/heart attacks induced by such liberal dollops of shock. How traumatic for them.

As for the tax story – if you read it, it’s incredibly thin in backing up the claim, based solely on what ‘city bosses fear’. Pff.
