Oh no, because the Mail would never set about to tarnish anyone’s name, ever. Ooh look, Princess Pushy’s back on the front page.

Anyway, all that aside, quite funny to see digiboxes explained to the Mail readership. Next Sunday: how to show your nan how and iPod works.

  2. Chris

A plot to smear someone??? The devious bastards.

    Probably commies.

  3. Original Paul

A smear, how unusual for that to be seen in the Mail!

  4. chas

what are they going to smear her with! officers mess?.

  5. Mail Man

Imagine anyone pointing out that senior figures in the British military have some direct family party-political links.

If the daughter had been an advisor to a Labour minister (or, God forbid, McBrooon himself) I’m absolutely certain the DM would never say a word about it ever.

    As if.

  6. NJH

She obviously ain’t fit/blonde/white, as otherwise we’d have got a photo.

  7. Tom

Tomorrow: disgust at revalation someone in the government is paid £800k a year to write complete bollocks.

  8. Judge Fish

Never mind the headline, just look at all the lovely free shit.

  9. bairy

That FREE set top box… Mum buys the paper so I had a look at the offer. All you have to do is pay 18 quid + tokens, or 23 quid.

So I am giving away for FREE my 20 inch computer monitor. All you have to do is send me 500 pounds cash.

  10. bairy

    Sorry my mistake.

It’s FREE with 60 tokens (1 per day), or 17 quid with 10 tokens, or 25 quid without tokens.

So it’s free if you buy the mail for 2 months. Or, another way to put it, not free.

  11. LZ

Its free if you are already stupid enough to buy the daily mail for 2 months.

  12. LZ

I am glad to see the Daily Mail taking the moral high ground smearing is terrible *sarcasm*

  13. hel

the mail still costs 50p, doesn’t it? because that would mean you have to spend £30 on it to get 60 tokens, which is a bit of a rip-off if you can get the same set-top box for £25 without any tokens. i wonder how many readers will pause to do the maths before taking out a 2-month subscription thinking they’re getting a good deal.

on another topic, mail fail: http://www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk/news/090908katepong.shtml

  14. Jay

Do you think you get any of the BBC channels on the Mail Digi Box?

  15. bairy

The mail is 50p per weekday and fuckloads more on weekends. Assuming the tokens are sequential over the next 60 days (or a few more if they offer leeway) it’ll cost nearer 40-45 quid than 30.

You can get cheap generic freeview boxes for 15-20 quid now. Even decent ones are less than 40 quid. This not-free free offer would only benefit people who were going to buy the paper anyway.

  16. Terence Eden

Surely it should be “More than 100 channels INCLUDING digital radio”.
Or is everyone else’s FreeView box getting a lot more TV than mine?

  17. Mick Durance

Yes i did collect all the tokens, but when do we get the delivery of the “free set top box” any one out there who knows the answer?

  18. David Crosbie

I collected the coupons and sent them to the address given ,as required, together with a cheque for the postage. When will I receive the set top box?

  19. terry gillgrass

i collected the coupons and also sent a cheque for postage on the 07/11/09, still waiting.

  20. Graham Wilson

I am also in the queue for Set Top Box.
At least cheque does not seem to have been cashed

  21. ramon alban

I smell a rat! Posted my tokens and cheque to the correct address, no acknowledgement, cheque not cashed, I should have sent it recorded delivery. Are the Daily Mail about to welch on their offer?

  22. judy bennston

Nothing received yet ….nor the FIL in Cheshire whose area has already gone digital 4 weeks ago !…no word of the delay from theMail.
    Anyone got one yet ????

  23. j. mercieca

Update from ramon alban. I contacted Daily Mail Promotions on this Email – support@webfulfilment.com – and received this reply:

    =======================================

I can confirm that we have received your order. We are currently awaiting stock to fulfill your order. Unfortunately, we have not been provided with a specific delivery time as of yet, therefore, I can’t provide a delivery date. Once we have received stock from our suppliers, we aim to dispatch your goods immediately.

    =======================================

I suggest that dissatisfied peeps contact the promotions dept and raise a job ticket with you query.

They seem to respond promptly, even if the answer is not good news. Perhaps they need to be snowed with hundreds of queries or maybe get a consumer group onto them?
