    You couldn’t make it up…

  2. Stevie H

    Blimey!

  3. Tony

I can only presume the word ‘bigot’ doesn’t have negative connotations to the express.

Either that or the entire editorial team have been sacked and replaced with sane human beings.

  4. Tony

OTOH thinking about it he *did* say that the far right didn’t like him because he was too soft. Explains the ‘discrace’ headlne.

  5. Steven

Don’t be surprised by headlines such as these. What else could they publish today? They obviously can’t support him without being crucified, and they can’t ignore the story without being seen to implicity offer support seeing as every other front page is condemning him today.

So they went the opposite route and overly condemned him instead to win brownie points so they can later claim they have a track record of opposing the BNP when they’re later attacked and exposed for implicitly supporting the BNP in another article a few months down the line.

Same as Jan Moir reckoning she’s got a track record of supporting gay rights, and the Mail dining off its Stephen Lawrence coverage for over a decade as an example of them supporting black communities, despite publishing innumerable racist op-ed pieces since. This is the headline equivalent of “I’ve got loads of coloured friends, me!”

  6. Mail Man

NG’s performance was laughably pathetic last night.

  7. pottedstu

The BNP are an easy alibi or scapegoat. So you get Jack Straw, who’s been accused of racism in the past for his opposition to burqas, having a go at them. The Tory party and Tory press take a break from demonising immigrants to have a go at them. It’d be nice if the Express or Mail, and some members of the Tory party, were actually to explain on what points they differ with Nick Griffin.

  8. Richard

They say this even though they share Griffin’s views on Islam and immigration and all the rest of it. Quite hypocritical by the Express, really.

  9. squaddie

    Why? Is he a human?.

  10. Original Paul

    All smoke and mirrors.

  11. TruthSeeker

Wierd, I though they’d be congratulating him!

  12. Matthew

Daily Express comment! Is it nauseating as I’m thinking?

  13. Matthew

    ‘as nauseating as…………’ even!

  14. Matt Hurst

Credit for denouncing him mind, unlike the Mail which seemed to think attacking the BBC was far more important.

  15. Fruitbat

Can’t argue with the front page. He’s a hypocritical cunt who found out how despised he is.

How they can reconcile this with the fact that their headlines are constant fuel for BNP articles and that they ran a BNP slogan as a headline in both national and international editions of their paper not long ago is another matter.

  16. James Farrier

While that front page ought to be applauded, I’d have to say that a hatfull of previous Express headlines look like copy and paste jobs from BNP news articles.

  17. ally

good on nick we are proud of you, what a disgrace the panelists and audience were, distorted faces full of rage, ugly unelected harridans, dykes, foreigners who should be grateful to be here, this is one scary country.

  18. Joe

Can nobody please feed this troll?

  19. Matthew

    Diana’s back on Saturday’s front page…………..!!

  20. capelli

I couldn’t believe it when I saw this front page today. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, for reasons Steven already pointed out.

But this is a newspaper that frequently espouses very similar views to those held by Nick Griffin, and yet apparently through its half-arsed efforts to distance itself from the BNP – this very page being a good example – it still retains its position as an accepted member of the British mainstream media?

Sure, it’s the butt of the occasional joke (though mostly relating to its excessive coverage Princess Diana, which is hardly the worst thing it does), and there are a few blogs doing a very good job of analysing its bullshit, but by and large it’s seen by the general public as “just another newspaper”. Why isn’t it held in the same contempt displayed towards Griffin on Question Time?

  21. Matt Hurst

Ah Ally is BNP…………How yes the general public are generally unelected, infact you don’t actually need to be elected to be a British Citizen infact just being born here is usually enough unless you happen to be born to a Asylum Seeker then your carted off into a prison like cell and told to wait to be deported to a country you know nothing off….and in which maybe in certain circumstances your mother or father will be hunted down and murdered, possibly alongside you…………

You know what I agree with Ally what a Scary country we live in

As for the rest I didn’t see any Foreigners last night, I think your confusing Foreign with a blind sighted racist view that White = British…. Black = Foreign…….. Hell what about the Polish?

As for Ugly I think only one person can been described as that both in views and looks

  22. Marcs

Griffin is unbalanced, he needs another glass eye to even things out. :D

  23. Sarah

I can’t disagree with the front page. But the Express has printed many, many, many articles which basically hold the BNP line.

  24. Tony

Had this sent me today http://enemiesofreason.blogspot.com/2009/10/hmm-remember-this.html

    Nicely illustrates the hypocrisy.

  25. ally

joe,how pathetic you sound, are you still in primary school, does your mum know you are playing online.stupid name calling, just like thursday nite.i bet my tax pays for you.

  26. DBC

ally, I see you are sadly lacking in English skills. This is typical of the trolls we get on here.

The start of the sentence should start with a capital letter, you have omitted the question mark, Thursday should have a capital letter and you have misspelled “night”.

This is not a very good advertisement for your “Master Race”. I thought you and you lot think yourselves superior to the rest of us.

  27. Judge Fish

No surprises here as I can’t imagine that Richard Desmond is any friend of the BNP. The far right takes a rather dim view of our nation’s blessed smut-peddlars.

  28. Stevie H

DBC, you omitted that he doesn’t put spaces after the commas either.

  29. Sarah

Ally, please, try and engage your brain, do you honestly have no friends that don’t match Griffin’s “indigenous British” category? Do you honestly never come into contact with people of other races who enhance your life in some way? Equally are all the “indigenous British” people you know perfect? Seriously, you don’t need us to tell you – you can work this out for yourself. Griffin’s policies are utter crap and if he was in power I guarantee your life would be worse. Yes you personally – your life would be a whole lot worse. Find something else to blame for the state of the country – maybe ignorance and intolerance would be a good place to start.

  30. Christo

BNP take away a lot of vote from the Tory faithfull. The better they do, they more the tories will struggle to win the northern heartlands that they need for a big majority.

It’s just saying “don’t vote BNP”. If you like their policies, vote tory
