“Now researchers have found that even a small amount of the sweetener – equivalent to two-and-a-half sugary drinks a day – can increase the risk of high blood pressure by almost 90 per cent…In the UK, 16 million people suffer from high blood pressure but around one in three are not aware they have it, which is why it is often known as the “silent killer”. ”

Oh! Well in that case the headline is accurate then and not in any way a wild scare-mongering over-reaction.

Would this be “Fructose”, the “sweetner” found naturally in fruit?

Anyway, I join the rest of the medical establisment in being shocked that sugars can lead to high blood pressure.

Does anyone else notice they put a picture of a man who has been sentenced so a term in prison for hitting a woman, I doubt very much he’s not the only man to be sent down for hitting a woman, but he’s probably the only one they can find who isn’t white and guess what, his face ends up on the front page… >:-(

Do bookies take spread bets on how long it’ll be before we get a “Sweeteners cure cancer” headline?

I don’t see the fuss here, what’s so stupid about teaching police how to use a computer anyway?

It’s really not clear if they’re talking about Police Constables, Political Correctness or Personal Computers.

    Or Peter Crouch possibly.
