if halloween were, say, an asian tradition, rather than an american one, then the mail would probably be blaming multiculturalism. i wouldnt call it an “orgy of ghoulishness” myself, more like “people making and wearing cheap and often unconvincing costumes for a laugh,” but the mail are probably unfamiliar with the concept of “having a laugh.”

one *every* 30 seconds? No two minute gap then four come along together? Mail readers are probably unaware that things like this don’t happen in other countries too: http://www.theage.com.au/national/woman-threatened-with-iron-bar-in-south-yarra-20091102-hrv6.html and http://www.theage.com.au/national/elderly-woman-attacked-by-gang-20091102-hs20.html

I’m astounded. I’m surprised and confused. Where do these thugs find the energy?

Please tell me that’s not a photo of Jonathan Ross and his wife illustrating the Halloween story. They’re not trying to pin this one on him are they?

Yeah, because the people of ancient Britain, particularly the Celts, never had any concept similar to Hallowe’en.

    Oh wait…

anyone who thinks that Halloween in Britain is an “orgy of ghoulishness” needs to visit the USA in the last two weeks of October to get things in perspective…..

And in there lies the problem. The mail and its readers HATE people having a laugh, or a good time. Particularly if they are young people.

However, calling the immigrant next door a paki is a great laugh, and anyone who says otherwise is a nulabour PC wet lettice!

za nu lie bore isn’t it Mr Mordon?
