To put this ’story’ into some sort of perspective:
1) The Labour candidate in question is a council election candidate, so not even an elected representative (yet)
2) Depending on what poll you read, 20-45% of people in the UK favour a republic, so these ‘jibes’ actually represent the views of a sizeable minority of people
3) Since when were election candidates not allowed to have personal views which were different from stated party policy? The Express is the first to bemoan politicians who don’t speak their mind and deviate from spin, so this is utter hypocrisy.
Seeing as I’m posting this, I may as well plug http://www.republic.org.uk for those of you who agree with the candidate in question.
Unknown Labour candidate uses ill-chosen words about the Queen. Unlike well known Conservative MP David Wilshire who said that the MPs were being treated like Jews under the Nazis when it came to expenses. Did this outrage the Express?
It’s the word “hurtful” in the subheading that annoys me. Is the queen hurt? Unlikely. Are any of the other royal family? I’m sure they’ve heard worse. So who exactly is being traumatised by this man whose name I still don’t know?
I don’t think it’s an “undeniable truth” that the queen is a parasite… I agree that they’ve rediculously slanted an off-hand comment by some minor politician however.
The MP’s comments are fair enough, she is a parasite and as she is the head of the United Kingdom I support anything which is against this bloody country!
But he’s not even an MP, I’ve ran myself for council several times as a Labour candiate and it’s like highlighting my views and making a national news story out of it. Actually if this is how easy it is to get in the Express I think I may send my blog to the newsroom every week.

Nevermind Red Pete’s ‘Queen on yer bike to China’ story…
Breaking News – Reality TV is quite popular!
The kind of investigative journalism that makes you proud to be British.
So, the Express (published by pornographer in chief R. Desmond) take exception to an undeniable truth. How very surprising.

The comment is true though.
Reminds me of when that Welsh AM got chucked out of the Welsh Assembly for referring to the Queen as “Mrs Windsor”.

A bit rich – what about the paraiste politicians ?
I once took some students to meet Mr Woodward, and I don’t think he was that “hard”.
Extremely pleasant and good – humoured, maybe, but not “hard”.
Or maybe they’ve just confused him with the characters he played.
He wasn’t even carrying a submachinegun…
