“Naturally, if a Conservative government had used a dodgy dossier to start an illegal war, the Mail would criticise them, too.”
John,
Your quoting the Mail’s tabloid view on such things.
If you actually read the case in detail, the only thing dodgy about the dossier was that they used a few misleading terms.
Bearing in mind the dossier was created by a combination of MI6, and a cross party defence committee, you know.
War is a nice stick to beat a government with. As Campbell rightly says – much of the criticism is tabloid created. Distorting the facts to sell papers.
As in, do you know the only reason it didn’t get a 2nd UN resolution?
Russia (Iraq is their middle eastern ally) blocked it with their veto. It was unanimously voted for, other than the commies…..
Regardless of how unpopular this is I do have a healthly respect for Mr Campbell, I guess it’s the communications background and espically the interest in political communications I have due to my degree. I think this kind of person had made my course more appealing.

So plenty in common with the Mail then!
Lying! I hope the Mail have consulted their legal team.
That’ll give something for Alistair to complain about today there… the Mail and AC, it’s kind of a symbiotic relationship.
Incidentally, does anyone else feel that Alistair’s really put on weight since he was in UB40?
Hello there Miss Kettle, my name is Mr. Pot, incidently, I couldn’t help noticing your colour…
Yeah he a lying, scheming fuckwit, but part of you does hope he went a bit Malcolm Tucker-ish on them.
In response, Campbell just called the Mail “scum” and “a real problem for our country’s culture” on Twitter.
Naturally, if a Conservative government had used a dodgy dossier to start an illegal war, the Mail would criticise them, too.

As for the headline, surely if the Mail calls someone a liar, they are actually probably being quite candid?
Like -1 x -1 = 1

While meanwhile the Mail turned me off journalism

IIRC I belive that is a lie.
