On the Mail website: “Scores of viewers complained about the golfer [Tiger Woods] being the [BBC] top story on the day 1,600 workers lost their jobs as the North-East’s last steel plant was shut down. … rather than leading with these stories, the golfer’s public apology for a string of extra-marital affairs was chosen as the headline story on BBC1’s main evening bulletin”

Current most read stories on the Mail website:
    1. Teacher killed herself ‘after ex-boyfriend posted naked pictures of her on Facebook’
    2. Trainer dies after ‘attack by killer whale at SeaWorld’
    3. ITV news presenter Lisa Aziz quits after withdrawing slurs on colleagues
    4. Male U.S. sports presenter suspended for suggesting female
colleague was too old at 47 for short skirt and tight top.

Looks like the Mail’s real grip is that the BBC is trying to steal its readers!

the stuff that went on in that hospital was pretty shocking to be fair- and the real kick in the teeth is that “they can’t take the hospitals foundation status away” despite universal consensus that it needs to be downgraded.

Surely the government can just take the status away, rather than ‘put a system in place to review the concept of downgrading hospital status’

imho as someone who works in a hospital, ratings should be on patient satisfaction, not on arbitary targets met.

I don’t recall the Mail being very willing to accept fault (let alone blame) either, e.g. the Jan Moir / Stephen Gately affair.

It’s a shame the Corus plant wasn’t in Haiti, because then the Mail could ignore it completely.

The first time the sentence ‘No one’s to blame’ has appeared on the front of the mail?
