  3. the_hallster

There are some hilarious comments on the Chancellor’s debate in todays mail:

One thing is for sure, Darling and Cable will stand together, and do all they can to discredit George Osborne, George into the Lions’ den, Best of luck George, attack !

    The Mail hates Heather.

Well if they’re measuring the cuts in terms of £££, the amounts will probably be higher now.

It’s due to this thing called “inflation”, which is the reason that many Daily Mail readers are surprised that people in the public sector earn more than £2 3d 6p a year.

  6. lady burglar

    Stevie H it should read £2 3s 6d or £2 3/6d

I assume we know about this:

The fact that the new cuts are greater than “Maggie’s” cuts doesn’t somehow justify the original cuts. It’s just that the economy she left us with (dependent on North Sea oil (running out) and the banking sector (overvalued and driven by greed) and much less industry) has turned out to be somewhat unstable leaving us in a rather poor state.

well being a longer life ….hold on didnt they accuse us all of being a nation of pill poppers of medicines that prolong life and cut the risk of strokes and heart disease ?
    bliey make your minds up
ohh and nice to see the usual Heather mills jibe sandwiched in between
heavens above the word lying on the daily Mail
after all whats the difference between lying and half baked truths and dichotomy?

  10. NickDunmore

    Terrible typo that.

  11. Dai

What a crap headline. They printed an O instead of a U.

  12. Mail Man

I have no problem with MPs employing their relatives in some cases.
Northern Ireland is a perfect case in point, I can well understand why an MP would end up only having full trust in a close relative.
It’s not their employing them that was ever the problem it was the obvious dodge (with precious little sign that they ever actually did anything) to get the additional expenses.

    Lady Burglar:

I apologise. Being a child of the 80s my only knowledge of “old money” is my gran converting everything back into pounds, shillings and pence – 15 years after decimalisation!

  14. lady burglar

Stevie H- thanks I have the same problem with kilos and grammes. Just for sheer devilment I refuse to use the French . metric weight In fact nowadays the word kilogram is pronounced differnently. Anyway if God had wanted us to be French he wouldn’t have put the English Channel between us! Also I think decimalisation was a touch before then

“What a lovely monday morning…….The Sun is Shining and everything is well with the world, oh what’s this the Daily Mail I see before me………Oh crap now i feel like shite”

I wonder if this is common?

  16. pstu

The Mail taking a stand against nepotism? Has anybody told Richard and Georgina Littlejohn about this?

  17. Phil

    Lady Burglar
Practically the ENTIRE WORLD except Britain and America use the metric system. Only a declining number of Britons hang on to the Imperial system because it is so awkward and inconvenient to use.

  18. lady burglar

but its so nice to be different Phil instead of following the herd
