Ah the Daily Express, good to keep things in context.

Still at least the readers won’t have fat brains after today…!

  2. Phil

A HYPOCRITE WHO SHAMES BRITAIN… brought to you by one of the rags that shame Britain.

  3. Matthew

    I thought it was a comment on R Desmond……….
So the election is still on then? ‘Looking forward’ to their polling day front page ‘Express Opinion’ next Thursday. Should raise a chuckle!

  4. Mr Mordon

Took the words right out of my mouth Paul

  5. Mr Mordon

    Sorry, Phil

  6. Applemask

So accidentally insulting a voter is bad enough, and then apologising to her is sickening? Why not just print “WE REFUSE TO BE SATISFIED WITH ANYTHING”?

  7. bairy

The Express can say this without any irony, because they have never ever insulted anyone at all.

  8. Mail Man

GB’s apology was “sickening” was it?
I saw a guy in the midst of an election campiagn drop everything to go and make a private personal apology.

You might not like the guy but to damn that as “sickening”, given its context, is just playing schoolyard games with your ludicrous party-political bias.

  9. Phil

Apologising is always a dangerous game in politics. Perhaps he should have just socked her one. Worked for Prescott! :-D

    @Phil

By the massive overreaction the papers and sky news has given this, you’d think he had punched her in the face, burnt down her house and killed her cat.

  11. Matt Hurst

I’d agree with that headline, indeed I believe Mrs Duffy is a hypocrite that shamed Britain….

    Oh wait

  12. hel

“sickening apology”? would the express rather he didnt apologise at all? silly paper.

Seems she has already got a PR form working for her and money for interviews. Seems like an ambush, I smell a rat.

To be fair, if I was in her position (a pensioner) I’d probably be milking this for all the £££ I could get out of TV shows and newspapers stupid enough to pay me.

  16. Phil

If she’s a life-long Labour supporter as she claims, but is now prepared to sell her story to the right-wing press – effectively promoting their anti-Labour agenda – just because the Labour leader upset her, this would suggest her principals were,’t that sound in the first place and that she is indeed a bigot.

  17. hel

apparently the sun offered her £90K for her story but she refused because they wanted her to back the tories and she wasnt keen on them either, so her principles might not be that weak after all.

  18. Phil

    Thanks hel
Glad to hear it. There are so many people seem to abandon any pretence at principal as soon as the popular/gutter press wave money at them.
I of course am not one of them! (unless the Mail would like to hear about… ;-|)

  19. NJH

“Hi, I’m Troy McClure. You might remember me from such self-help guides as ‘Think yourself thin’.”

    Beyond parody.
