Just because the tory party have the largest minority share of MPs in the new Parliament that does not guarantee them a thing.
Not when the other partys still have the option to put together a coalition that might hold a majority in the new Parliament.
Still, since when were the right-wing ever really interested in the rules, traditions and customs of the British……when they no longer suited them?
Damned if he stays, damned if he goes. Typical Daily Mail I’m afraid.
I see they’re already trying to bias their readers against voting reform as well before they get the chance to see the details and decide for themselves.
Wow almost exactly the same headline as the excess
Coincidence do you think… :
Still two can play at that game:
They’ve been calling for Brown to quit for… well forever it seems… so you’d think they’d be pleased when he actually did. (yeah I cut n’ pasted that from the express front page thread)
Brilliant concept the PR system.Perhaps it could be extended to the Olympic Games, where the country that won the least gold medals would overall win the Laurel wreath! It might give Great Britain a chance
L.B. never misses an opportunity to parade his/her ignorance.
Shall I spell it out.
Unoriginal: We all saw the witty story about Chelsea losing the league after Man Utd. and Liverpool declared a coalition.
Factually incorrect: PR does not reward the least votes, but (in the liberal’s preferred form) guarantees a level of representation in proportion to votes cast.
Sporty trivia: The Olympics have been awarding medals (made of metal) since the start of the modern games.
To stretch the olympic analogy, the current system is like some runners only having to run half the distance then declaring victory on the basis they got to the finish like first.
Except this time everyone collapsed in exhaustion before they got to the finish line.
I read an account of our electoral system in on Le Monde’s website thoday, in which they quote Littlecock writing in the Heil. My French isn’t perfect, far from it, but you have to admire the way his cuntishness transcends mere linguistic barriers.

Labour had put voting reform in their election manifesto so it’s hardly cynical or treacherous to try and bring it about.
@lady_burglar: PR requires that if a party (or coalition) is to govern it needs a higher share of the vote than under first past the post; how is that rewarding failure? Surely giving Number Ten to someone with 35% or 36% of the vote under FPTP is rewarding failure.
Now that the Mail’s man is in No 10 they’ve gone all soft on Brown all of a sudden- “A tearful Gordon goes with grace” says the banner on the Wail’s website. Two faced? Mail? Never!
Obviously you didn’t realise I was being sarcastic. PR is for losers it’s the only way the Liberals were ever going to taste power. You men are so easily wound up it’s laughable!
The press has nee throwing absurdities about like confetti in the past few days so here’s one for you all.
LibDems were criticised for speaking to a party with fewer than top votes.
It’s clearly nothing more than numbers game.
This week’s homework is to extend the logic and point out the underhand behaviour of the “winners” in not holding talks with the second largest party..
Stuff the number. Have lost any respect i had for the Lib Dumbs. How can a progressive party get into bed with Thatcher’s children. And, to all the Scots who voted Labour to keep the Tories out only to find English Tories imposing another Tory govt on them… next time, go for independence!
Errrmm did not the Tories not put PR forward as soon as the Lib Dems started talking to Labour. Once this country is finally broken over the next 12 – 18 months will the Fail hail Cameron as a saviour or will they strat rooting for Millband?
Tut Tut that’s no way to talk about a Lady.Any inaccuracies there may be are at least mine and not a direct crib from the Pravada type ragsyou appear to rate.As for football I have no interest at all in overpaid, overgrown schoolboys kicking a bag of wind up and down a patch of grass
Typical lying propaganda.

The hypocrisy of the mail accusing anybody of cynicism.

It’s the Sun what lost it ( along with the Mail, Express, Times, Telegraph) Murdoch and Dacre must be biting the carpet.

Time to end the disastrous democratic experiment.
… and you just know it would be a complete volte face come a LIB/CON agreement. Suddenly Nick won’t be two-faced any more.
No one actually voted for a coalition of any party, that’s even less democratic than Brown being leader as at least his ward voted for him.

3 more days of talks.
The Markets have not bolted like spooked horses.
No british policemen have combusted spontaneously.
Anybody would think that the mail had been making it up.
Lady Burglar:
Perhaps I’ve missed the pathos in your comment, but if you check your facts you’ll see that Team GB finished 4th in the 2008 Olympic medals table.
Britain isn’t as broken as perhaps some people would like to make out.

New trend in “Sky newscaster goes nuts” stories.
One every day.
Could it be (most unlikely) that Murdoch Jr will soon be appearing as the Mail’s latest great Satan.

I’m really going to miss Gordon Brown’s Prime Ministerial Decrees in Private Eye now!
PR is a lot better than a government consisting of one party that hates the other, neither of whom won, being in charge. What’s sarcasm?
lady burglars posts are usually so shit and full of bizarre inaccuracies that’s difficult to decipher when she’s being serious or just trolling.

Gordon Brown:: A thoroughly decent man
Destroyed by a shithouse media.
You are joking aren’t you?
And what about Cameron’s 55% rule?
Somehow I get the feeling that won’t make the front page.
