Is that someone wearing a (bad) Cameron mask in the sun picture.

As for the GP’s the only difference will be that out of hours will be organised from the GP rather than the health trust. It could still be contracted out to Euro doctors to do… so no real change.

  2. Phil

A Muslim woman on the front page of the Mail NOT accused of leeching off of “soft touch Britain”. Is this a first?

  3. Crouching Tiger Hidden Badgers Paw

Cameron looks a little uncomfortable and even a bit embarrassed in The Scum front page. Surely, Andy Coulson could have a arranged a better photo for his pals at The Scum, I can’t believe they okayed that front page let alone the picture.

  4. Phil

Is this interview part of the payback for Rupert Murdoch switching his support back to the Tories, I wonder?

  6. Mr Mordon

It looks like the SUN header has bashed Cams head to one side!

  7. James

Whilst I’m usually disdainful of their work, you have to admire the way the Sun’s ‘Photoshop Boffins’ have airbrushed out the surgical gloves Cameron insisted on wearing before touching that paper.

    Yet more Mail spin:

Tuesday, DM: “Financial markets reacted with horror yesterday at the prospect of a Labour coalition with the Liberal Democrats and other minor parties. Sterling – which had initially rallied in the hope of deal between the Tories and Lib Dems – started to dip at the moment Gordon Brown began to speak yesterday afternoon. … Currency traders hit the panic button at the prospect of the Tories failing to win the keys to No 10. Sterling started the day around $1.483, soared above $1.50 as the prospect of a deal with David Cameron grew – but then fell to trade at around $1.4850.”. [IOW it traded within a 1% range]

So given that since DC has become PM the pound has now dropped to 1.460, a 52-week low, what horror headline can the Mail website come up with? Well actually the state of the pound doesn’t appear to get a mention. Funny that.

    Government from Wapping, great……….

  10. lady burglar

Tonyb- try reading the financial section of Thursday’s mail, adequate cover of the slide of sterling.

  11. nh

“you must cover out of hours” ….and guess who’s paying for it!

  12. Applemask

Nice use of the word “SKY”.

  13. Matt Hurst

Baroness Warzi trying desperately to smile as her usual face is a snarl.

As for that Sun cover…. suspect

  14. Mail Man

    Grovelling creeps.

  15. NJH

If we want Britons to be brighter, they’ll have to read something a little more challenging than The Sun.

  16. Stevie H

I see the “Free Shit on the Front Page” disease has infected The Sun. Crunchies are rank.

  17. Matthew

At least ‘The Express’ gives away ‘proper food’ such as sausage rolls………

  18. Matt Hurst

At least the sun got some good quality Chris Evans bashing in, what would it be without dissing a BBC employer.

  19. TonyB

@lb, yes, but if I was reading the same story as you refer to, it’s a measured and sensible analysis well buried, as compared with the prominent and emotive “Financial markets reacted with horror yesterday at the prospect of a Labour coalition with the Liberal Democrats and other minor parties… One City expert described the possibility of a ‘rainbow’ coalition as ‘absolutely terrifying’”. Why such emotive language? – to press buttons and create a particular reaction. The Mail – as regulars of this site well know – is about manipulating people’s opinions rather than informing them.

  20. DBC

Oh dear, reality has now dawned at the Mail. Today’s headline:-
“£1,200 tax shock for Middle England”
“Figures commissioned by the Daily Mail show that those on middle incomes will shoulder a greater burden than the poor or even high earners because of rises in national insurance, the loss of tax credits and what experts say is an inevitable rise in VAT.”

    Is the honeymoon already over?

  21. Crouching Tiger Hidden Badgers Paw

If they put VAT up to %20 I won’t be buying anything other than essentials. VAT is a tax on the poor, and why the fuck are middle and higher income people claiming benefit anyway, that shit needs to stop ASAP.

I’ll enjoy watching the Wail tying itself in nots trying to decide which way they should go. Benefits = bad, Cameron + middle classes = good. HAHA.

  22. DBC

Breaking News – Two white supremacist terrorists were jailed yesterday for manufacturing a deadly poison. This story is splashed on the front pages of all the tabloids (in my dreams!)

  23. TonyB

DBC you only quoted half of it: “£1,200 tax shock for Middle England: How families will bear brunt of new coalition’s drive to slash Britain’s deficit”. Are single people really being spared … I suspect not!

  24. Steve

Read deeper and you’ll see that some of the Tax Shock consists of “things we wanted to happen, but won’t happen”.

Inheritence tax threshold not being raised 300% (Hardly a Tax rise).
VAT assessed as a direct proportion of earnings (seems unlikely).
And child tax credit abolished for incomes of £60,000 (We’ll have to shoot one of the ponies).

  25. DBC

TonyB, I know. I should have left in the part about the coalition, mainly to point up the hidden agenda of the headline which is implying it’s all the fault of the “coalition” , i.e. Nick Clegg.

  26. Phil

    Come off it, lady burglar.
Money Mail doesn’t really count, does it? In fact, I believe it has quite a good reputation. This is logical when you think about it; even the Mail is hardly likely to give its readers duff investment advice to suit some political agenda, they’d be flooded with complaints!
Similarly, I remember the story in the late 80s of the Mail painting a rosey picture of the economy to support the then Conservative Government while painting a rather dire picture for their shareholders.

  27. MatthewS

David Cameron really should be ashamed of himself for that front page, I bet the conservative newsletter doesnt have such nausiatingly fawning coverage.

  28. Matthew

The Murdoch press feels that he now ‘owes’ them for their support during the GE. Blair posed for a similar front page shot when he was their ‘chosen one’ It’s enough to make you weep.

  29. Steve

Backlash on the Triesmann stoiry (Sunday) may prove interesting.
