They do get that the “nothing left” treasury note was joke don’t they!
    No thought not.
Still house prices are going up so who cares, right?

  2. Crouching Tiger Hidden Badgers Paw

Hooray for middle/higher income people who see it as an investment. Fuck the poorer, first time buyers who just see it as a place to live.

  3. Matthew

Already the ecomony’s ‘booming’ after just a week of Tory rule! Rejoice at that news!

  4. Dai

Fruity lady in a state of undress seems now to be a fixture in what used to be dead blonde corner. The Express taking hints from stablemates at the Star?

  5. Phil

A rapidly rising market is only good news if you’re in a position to sell without buying, otherwise high inflation (as it’s commonly known) is usually bad. Take this as further evidence that the Express is written by journalists out of touch with the real world. But we knew that already.

  6. Original Paul

The Express takes over from the Mail in bigging up house prices. It was the unsustainable boom in house prices that fucked up the economy in the first place.

  7. another_pleb

The tragic irony is that most Express readers aren’t rich, if they own a house, it’s usually a very modest affair. The rocketing housing market is mainly confined to the top end of the market in London and the Home Counties. These are the only houses selling ATM; this is a situation which is far from likely to continue.

There is little or no trickle down to the poor deluded souls who read the Express and believe that their 3-bed ex-council semi has “rocketed” in value.

  8. Matthew

Express readers deserve no sympathy on any issue. Peiod.

  9. Matthew

    Period……….

Excellent bit of fruitylady-work there. They mention she’s the Muslim Miss America, so there’s tons of PC-Gone-Mad potential, but then it’s still entirely wankable. It’s a tough balancing act, but let’s see if they pull it off.

  11. Mr Mordon

Holy crap! is this the first time a Muslim without ‘burka’ has featured on the front page?

  12. Phil

There we are. Proof the Express shows the same respect to women of all races and religions. If they’re in a swimsuit and can be considered totty they’re front page material!

  13. Rob

House prices have fallen in South Wales over the past year. Not that the Express gives a fuck about anywhere north or west of Bromsgrove.

  14. Christopher

Did they actually start a headline with HOORAY!?

    W T F

  15. NJH

Dai, at least the Express has some variance, rather than Jordan 5 days a week like the Star.

  16. Steve

I make that 2 dusky maidens in a week on the express.

Starting with Hooray is easy. Avoiding letting anything slip about Blackshirts is the difficult bit.

  17. Matt Hurst

I found Liam Byrne’s joke slightly amusing I have to admit.

And I recieved news today that I will be one of the 6 billion cuts, so if I can find it amusing I’m not sure why the Express and it’s millions of idiot readers can’t.

“The rocketing housing market is mainly confined to the top end of the market in London and the Home Counties. These are the only houses selling ATM;”

In the immortal words of Chris Griffin, “Bbbbb-whhhhaaaaattt?” My missus has just sold her house in Bradford for less than £125k.

If we’re going to point out the errors in the Express’ journalism, let’s get our own facts right, otherwise we’re no better than your (very) average DE journo!

  19. Neander

‘There is no money left in the Treasury’. Yeah, but I bet that money will be found to pay welfare bills for those two Muslim terrorists from Pakistan that have just been given permission to stay in Britain. They come here to slaughter Brits…and we reward them!!! Poor old Britain.

  20. Neander

Stevie H…And while I’m here can I just observe that housing prices do tend to be very low in Bradford. See my previous post for a little hint as to why that might be.

  21. Tom (iow)

“Have your say is unavailable” on the muslim Miss America story…. obviously due to the ‘random resource allocator’ and nothing to do with their knowing their readers are vile racists.

Also a new feature on their home page (seriously, check it out):

Come on Neander, don’t say you haven’t thought about it…

  23. Stevie H

    Neander:

I can’t recall your article about Bradford, but I can have an educated guess as to your THEORIES on why this is.

  24. Stevie H

    Neander:

Ah, I see you were referring to your preceding post at 3:15pm.

I’m afraid it’s not quite that black and white.

  25. another_pleb

    @Steve H:

Less than £125K for a house in Bradford sounds about right. It probably (obviously) wasn’t worth more.

I actually like Bradford and enjoy visiting the area on a fairly frequent and regular basis, however, house prices in the area are very variable as certain neighbourhoods are very nice and others not so much.

In general, it is almost always much cheaper in general than even interest-only mortgages making it foolish to buy rather than rent in most areas of Bradford.

Just because something is foolish, doesn’t mean that nobody does it. There is one born every minute afterall, most likely one who believes the shameless property ramping by the likes of the DE.

  26. Stevie H

    Erm, thanks…?

“They do get that the “nothing left” treasury note was joke don’t they!” – And a hi-larious one too. Especially if you’ve read that part of Andrew Rawnsley’s new book where Brown refuses to contemplate cuts in spending so that Labour will have an easier narrative come the election.

I read comments like yours and can’t help thinking “we are here to show them they are being lied to” should definitely apply to Labour voters as well.

  28. JSwindle

Sure, but the site is about The Mail, not voters. And taking issue with The Mail does not mean you have to vote Labour.
