How long before the Mail complains about the cost of the man hunt?

  3. Jim

    Their readers already are.

I must admit I feel sorry for Jennifer Saunders. I used to love the French & Saunders show; there just aren’t enough female comedians in my opinion.

  5. NJH

They’ll never say as much, but there’s a sadistic part of the press who love this kind of thing. Same with Derrick Bird and the Bradford killer a couple of months ago. It provides them with “evidence” of their beloved narrative of “broken society” and the perpetual fear/disgust everyone should have.

i’ve seen a few photos of jennifer saunders in the papers today and they all seem to be paparazzi photos – she doesnt seem to be posing for the camera or looking directly at it in any of them. wouldnt be surprised if they are as they dont have any respect for anyone.

  7. Doctor F.

@NJH: You are right, of course. But what’s uncomfortable for the DM/DE in terms of trying to paint a picture of “Broken Britain™” is that Derrick Bird was white, English, fairly middle-class, apparently a homeowner, frequented his local, heretofore law-abiding and had HMRC on his ass.

See where I’m going with this?

  8. Matt Hurst

I bet the Gunman’s loving this amount of attention, just what he craved.

  9. Crouching Tiger Hidden Badgers Paw

@ NJH yes it’s all very much last season of The Wire territory.

As for the headline, how the fuck do they know? Or are they only jumping to conclusions based on the a team of police snipers, probably from SO19 have been sent there, are in fact SAS?

  10. Phil

Didn’t see and mention of the SAS on the TV news. Does the Mail have any sound basis for this claim or is it another attention-grabbing flight of fantasy?

  11. Mail Man

The only place I can see Moat going is to the grave fairly soon.
A stand-off & a shoot-out will be created and he’ll get killed or top himself.
Seems the usual way those psychos like to go.

    Jennifer Saunders.
Wow, now that was news……and I imagine her right to privacy was just sh@t on?
I haven’t seen her doing any TV about it so I am (admittedly) guessing neither she nor her family wanted any of the gawpers attention?

  12. Mail Man

Hate to say I told ya…..

I’ve mislaid my calendar, so I hope the punters here can remind me when the traditional 2 minute hate about teacher’s holidays kicks off.

The so-called “Summer” holiday is a couple of week earlier up here in Scotland, so it’s difficult to figure out the deal with English education.
I’m hoping to interevene with a few “Thanks to Dave new free schools will provide all year round the clock childcare and teachers will finally earn their overvalued pensions” trolls.

There was no SAS involvement; the SAS are only involved in UK domestic terrorism when it is just that: terrorism. There has to be a foreign angle and a political issue for the govt. to use military, not civilian force. You cannot have elements of the British Army running around after criminals on the mainland. It would also be a “criminal” waste of resources given how stretched he military is elsewhere in the world.
