As I understand it, the UFO story refers to reports of ‘foo fighters’ that emerged during the war. At the time they were buried as not conducive to national security (fear that the public would panic over Nazi ’secret weapons’, or would be generally bad for national morale).
On the radio this morning they had the usual suspects, Nick Pope, etc, all of whom see themselves as budding Fox Mulders, claiming that this is conclusive ‘proof’ that They Are Out There and Want Our Women.
To paraphrase ‘Aliens’, I suppose the Express saw the word alien and immediately thought illegal alien. Adding Churchill to the mix led to a wank fantasy they just couldn’t resist…
