This article is absolute crap. In fact the risk for all economies in the world ( particularly the US economy which drives everybody else ) is towards deflation. Deflation is no less nasty than inflation- ask the Japanese which has had a stagnant economy since 1991.
I can understand (in a perverse kind of way) why the Express prints crude and bigoted xenophobia but why does it print scare stuff like this? – what purpose does it serve? Can anyone help?
This story feels like a scare story. Most economists predict that deflation rather than inflation will set in after 2011. Most economists I’ve read also predict that interest rates are unlikely to rise significantly until 2014/2015
Seems to be regional.. It’s been raining cats and dogs pretty much every day for months here, but I made a trip down south a month or two ago and it was baking hot.
“will hit 8% say experts” I suppose “say ONE SPECIFIC expert” wouldn’t have been so catchy? not suprisingly a different set of “experts” said something contradictory a few weeks back but I’m guessing they weren’t the usual Express expert go-to guys so they don’t count.
Wasn’t the express last week complaining that interest rates were too low for savers?
So I guess it’s like House Prices which can be both Good & Bad, if they go up or down.
