Besides the small point that the students in all probability did not actually do anything genuinely threatening there’s also the not-so-small matter of the armed squad of Special Branch (licenced to use deadly force) escorting them.
I’m sure they were under no genuine threat whatsoever.
Still it got wikileaks off the front pages (on the day when news that senior Civil Servants told the American Gov to ignore the elected Gov & PM of the day on their comments on their plans that might not see the UK renewing Trident
……..only a subversion of democracy, nothing to worry about, nothing to see here, move along everybody.
They are trying to push that as terrifying & life-threatening, I see Cameron today in The Guardian is quoted as saying the royal car was “almost attacked”.
It’s amazing that the cameraman could get that close. He must have fought his way through hoardes of murderous students, with no thought of his own safety, just so we could have a photo of how shocked the royals were. Give the man an O.B.E.
Erm! They did’nt attack the Royals,they attacked a car.
As in the Mail, the real issue (increasing student fees leading to a riot) is avoided in the headline.
The best bit about all this is that they left the Royal Palladium in the back of a riot van, haha.
