I wonder what that really amounted to, what with their Special Branch guards etc etc.
A bit of shouting……. and maybe a push on the car?
Perhaps one of those terrorising eggs hurled at a window
(s’funny, I recall when John Prescott thumped some tw@t for throwing an egg at him the likes of the DM thought that was a total over-reaction).
Somehow I doubt there was any genuinely credible behaviour to justify actual ‘terror’
(although what one of the countries most privileged rates as shocking & terrorising is another matter……merely the oiks too close to the car?)
A handy story to draw attention away from the fact that the new government’s policy has already lead to serious riots, perhaps? Makes me feel nostalgic for the eighties!
hate to say it. But if these folk are so concerned about the increase in fees, why are they not making the most of there time at Uni and attending the lectures they pay for.
But I guess throwing things is far more productive…
Mordon, maybe because they want to show their anger at what is happening, sitting at university quietly isn’t really going to be a statement of disagreement (god forbid they might miss a day of lectures though!) – and the vast majority of them weren’t throwing anything, but as usual the press is far happier to make out that they’re all dangerous anarchists.
Terror? Really? Looks more like ‘how dare the great unwashed touch our car’ kind of face. Makes a change from her usual facial expression, which would turn a funeral up a side street.
Dave – absolutely! And I’m someone who’s got a small but definite soft spot for Charles and Camilla (even though I can’t stick the rest of the Royals. Go figure).
Maybe the Daily Mail was right after all, they said that if there was a hung parliament the country would take to the streets to protest and riot, just like in Greece Maybe this is the start of the apocalypse they predicted.
The current student protests aren’t anything even close to the demo’s the Greeks have been having.
It’s about the tory dominated Gov’s stupid & unnecessarily harsh policies, it is not because we have a coalition.
In fact if we’d have had a tory majority Gov trhey’d be even worse & the demo’s a lot more ‘broad’ than students having a go about it all.
Did you miss what happened under Thatch & her majority Govs or what?
(I expect in DM-land those inconvenient facts got air-brushed out long ago)
Oh and apologies NJH, I missed that you’d done that point before me.
morden: the current crop of students won’t have their fees risen, the protests are in support of younger people who will have to pay increased fees, and against funding cuts.
my lecture on thursday was cut short in order to allow students to protest, i imagen this was the same in many other places. university tutors are hardly thrilled about these changes either, and many of them were also protesting.
I watched a short clip of the attack on the Beeb’s website and a protestor’s cry of ‘Off with their heads! Off with their heads!’ made me smile. This is because, whereas I don’t know much about Camilla, I do know that Prince Charles is an muddle-headed buffoon who supports the bogus science of homeopathy. I’ve read that his support is why NHS hospitals provide this treatment. And taxpayers foot the bill.
This said, both The Mail and The Express have missed the point and the attack on the royals’ car is not significant in the big picture. What matters is that degrees – which seem to be growing in importance as many jobs become graduate professions – are going to become cripplingly expensive, some universities may go bankrupt and that the Lib Dems are going to be wiped out at the next election.
One look at the video and you can see why Cameron couldn’t bring himself to say any more than the roayl car was ‘almost attacked’.
A laughably feeble story.
…..are we going to have this sort of nonsense every time a ‘royal’ in a car is on the receiving end of some shouted abuse by 1 or 2 passersby?
It’ll be never-ending if they do.
I prefer instead to imagine the pure terror students will now face when confronted with fees, loans, and debts that will burden them for the rest of their lives. Just like in America! Oh joy!
Mr Mordon most university students nowadays get so little contact time that the day of action probably replaced a day sat in the Library if that means doing that on a weekend or doing it over xmas so be it.
As terrible as it is that Prince Charles will have to dig deep into his pockets of hard earned money to repaint his car, stuff like this does put his tragic loss into perspective: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11967098
Strange they’ve mentioned Ian Tomlinson……..That’s one they would like to forget. Luckily it looks like this lad won’t be ending up the same way.
I think this seriously raises issues, the police cannot be used as an army as they were used against the miners and these kids are kids most of them have gone to protest sensibly and should be treated as such, not being hit by batons. Seeing as such people are usually on the fringes wanting to leave it’s the peaceful ones getting herded back and hit out at.
I’m sorry to get mad at this but this is disgraceful and we need a proper invesitgation and not further white washing as we’ve had in the cases of Tomlinson and that pathetic joke inquest into Jean Charles de Menezes death.
This front page could be reframed as “Unemployed couple on benefits drive their car into a pre-planned protest crowd of hard-working tax-payers. Man is thought to be of German-Greek origin.”

Now you mention it, Millie doesn’t look that terrified at all. More a look of indignation. The look of someone whose just had paint chucked over their car, in fact.

Terror?
It looks like she has just farted.

If that had been Diana she would have been out of that car
and sorted out all those Left wing ,immigrant, working class
hooligans.
If Diana was still with us there’d have been a suspicion that she’d told the demonstrators where Charlie was!
Terror? Really? Looks more like ‘how dare the great unwashed touch our car’ kind of face. Makes a change from her usual facial expression, which would turn a funeral up a side street.
Also, I thought the papers hated Camilla? ‘How dare she take Diana’s place, we’ll never accept her as Queen’ etc

Apocalypse NOW – and guess who’s paying!
And we’re back! But this still doesn’t excuse the site’s repression of our supportive comments on the forthcoming Royal Wedding, rejoice at that news!

Has the white Fiat Uno been traced yet??
Maybe it was the proximity of the photographers.
Has she fallen out with Price Phil & the secret services lately?

YouTube of ‘the attack’ here –

It’s laughable stuff.

“terror”?! they were probably more confused than anything else…
I prefer instead to imagine the pure terror students will now face when confronted with fees, loans, and debts that will burden them for the rest of their lives. Just like in America! Oh joy!

“Cameron condemns attack on royal car”
Isn’t that something akin to a badge of honour?

@ Mail Man, I wasn’t being serious.
A thought: is Millie recalling that her predecessor came to grief in a car?
Hate to say it Mr Mordon, but if you’re so concerned about lost productivity, why don’t you get back to work instead of posting on websites?
(And I wonder if the Daily Mail is going to cover the protester who needed brain surgery after being beaten by police?)
I’m still trying to figure out what “PURE” terror is.
I would think that any kind of fear is far from PURE
