Yet another pessimistic, panic-inducing “shortage of X” headline. Dave C is bang on; it’s depressing how, if and when there are grocery shortages, supplies of whinging tabloid newspapers still seem to make it to the shops whatever the weather!
If there’s a fight to keep HM’s head on stamps this suggests someone is trying to remove it. Who? The report I saw said it was just a simple oversight, i.e. the ‘fight’ is in the editorial imagination of the Express.
What’s the betting they wrote this headline the moment snow was forecast?
Tomorrows will be that bread and milk are running out?
Then they’ll complain about the cost of everything?
After that back to the EU/immagrants/benefits paranoia
They must be ever so conflicted the poor DE reader. They want to privatise RM, but they’re saying if that happens they can’t guarantee that the head of their spiritual leader will remain on the stamps.
They wanted the Torys in power and swinging cuts an end to ‘waste’ and, lo and behold, local authorities can’t afford to do anything. I wonder if they’ll be complaining if their bins only get emptied once a month, or if their kids have to walk to and from school in the dark because the council can’t afford to keep the street lights on.
If they do I bet they wont be blaming the Torys and the cuts, it’ll probably be someone else’s fault.
The Queen-on-stamps thing is a real non-story. Ed Davey and Buck House have already sorted this one out to ensure that HM remains on the stamps regardless of who owns the Royal Mail. Although one kind of suspects that the Daily Ex-Princess would prefer Diana to be on the staps rather than Elizabeth II….
Tell the Express to come to Winsford in Cheshire. Apparently there’s enough salt under Winsford to last at least another hundred years and they can mine about 1000 tonnes a day.
Don’t you actually need mines and miners to get the salt out of the ground though? I don’t think the Express would like that, since miners are the antithesis to St Maggie…
Is this headline to be taken at face value or are they trying to imply that the nation is losing its nerve?
“Fury as councils ration supplies”
So obviously the best thing to do at this stage would be to cut council budgets. Thanks, Tories!
We’re running out of grit! PANIC!
Cahos and fury both on the front page.
Heaven.
But the Express is’nt running out of shit.

HM’s head (continued). And no doubt when the oversight is corrected the Express will claim ‘victory’ for ‘its’ campaign.

I think we should get Herman Van Rompuy instead of Brenda, not because I’m a staunch Europhile necessarily, more just to see how the tabs react..
Give it a few months and it will be ‘Fury as German Post Office allowed to use Queen’s head on stamps’.
Who’s head?
I didn’t vote for her.

Cut council spending by 50%, and then complain about grit running out………..
I have a solution. Only spend council money on middle-class stuff
Lot’s of grit and flu vaccines
As for her madge – you know, who cares what an American companies logo is?
The point is, it will be sold abroad
