Many, many of the lowest paid council workers (cleaners, labourers, refuse collectors) have been transferred into the private sector, where their pay and conditions have worsened. This process was, of course, cheer-led by the likes of the Mail. Basic maths will tell you that this will have led to average pay in the public sector to have risen.
    Basic maths.

@Rob I was going to say exactly the same thing.

Also to add that you should compare like with like, rather than the whole public sector with the whole private sector. Are, say, project managers paid more in the public or private sector? How about nurses? IT support staff? Clerical support?

People that manage multi-million pound budgets. Are they paid more in the public or private sector?

Does Dacre get more than Mark Thompson?

On the other hand, here’s hoping that the other publishing houses continue the battle against Murdoch and bring the cunt down.

Cor. I’ve never been part of a smear campaign before (and smear campaign it is). I must check my next pay packet – if I can lift it of course – and see where all that lovely money’s going. It seems not to appear in my bank account.

I’ve just seen the bit about Will and Kate’s palms. What do they reveal? That they don’t do much manual work, maybe?

    Hair, I believe, Neil.

Is the Mail also factoring in bonus, expenses, company car, share options e.t.c that stae workers do not have? Fucking hell, how dare us public sector workers have a decent salary and pension? Wankers.
