Anyone wanting to know more about immigration into this country and the notion of ‘optimum population’ should read So You Think You Know About Britain? by Danny Dorling. He does a great job of dismantling the myths that surround this vexing subject.
In a nutshell, he explains that the UK could support a population of 180 million people and that the country appears to be congested because people prefer to travel by car rather than use public transport.
