The moderators read the comments and decide whether they are suitable for publication or not. And, that is why for the life of me, I cannot understand why they (and indeed the editor) are not culpable.

I guess they'll just say it's something to do with the amount of comments so some slip through the net. It does seem like a hell of a lot slip through the net, though. I'm not sure how common it is to have a comment not accepted, so how true that is I just don't know.

Whatever they say, they clearly let through comments which follow the Dacre intention, and add to the effect of the story. These are often unsupportable, and so when complained about they are removed. Sometimes they come back when we're not looking.

It'd be interesting to know if the moderators share those sort of views. If not, what a fucking depressing job that must be. Reading through the views of dirty racists all day, and even worse, publishing the comments. Maybe being a scummy bigot is just part of the job requirement.
