The fight to avoid relegation is fascinating. Basically anyone below Everton at the moment could go down.

cough...Bundesliga...cough

I don't know. Haven't they had a real no-hoper rise from lower league football to play in the Bundesliga?

Yes, that'd be TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, currently top of the Bundesliga. They were playing in the fifth tier of German football in 2000. They're being bankrolled by a former player who now owns a software company (no, not Bill Gates).

This is a classic. Nearly every 'PC gone mad, country gone to the dogs' comment has got 100s of positive ratings, whilst any other sort of comment has got 100s of negative ratings!

Who are these 'diversity' nazis to pillory this Christian Nurse - is this a communist country! This is nu labour stalinism - tell them where to get off!

What a load of cliched gibberish!

Research has also shown that patients who are prayed for get better quicker. Caroline is simply doing her job the best way she can - the prayer is not detracting from her 'secular' work.

Caroline, I'm praying for you!

I thought there was research that showed it had no effect whatsoever?

I accept that her intentions were kind and well meaning, however, if a nurse offered to pray for me if I were ill in hospital, I would find it rather unsettling. I would think 'do they know something I don't ?' and worry I was about to pop my clogs! Suspending her is far too harsh, a quiet word in her ear was all that was necessary, or perhaps she is a little on the evangelical side, she has gone to the papers after all.

I think this one sums up my view but it's been downrated a massive 869.

and true to form we get the 'this is a Christian country...'

Yep, it's a wonder those churches in the UK can cram all those Christians in on Sunday mornings or maybe these dear readers think Tesco's is just a denomination of the Cof E.

And this drivel claims to be a TV programme worthy of broadcast to the nation? Why don't the BBC save on expensive studios and just follow the pair around as they go shopping, play with the kids, do a spot of housework, watch paint dry? What's on offer tommoow if this snow stays? Watch Phillip as he slowly realises that he's running out of food and might need to go to the shops? Please, I think I need to lie down from all this excitement.

Someone observed recently that the people who post on the Mail forum are in reality restricted to a dedicated small group of agenda-setters, which would certainly explain the huge negative markdowns on anything vaguely sensible or humane that gets posted. I think this may well be true, but there does seem to be a fair proportion of simple bigoted idiots who wouldn't know an agenda if one bit them on the bum, and who really are taken in rather easily.

In fact (though this observation may well have been made on here before) the main problem seems to be that most of the message board posters start from a position that whatever has been reported by the Mail is the absolute, inerrant, unvarnished truth. This of course is something which anyone with a modicum of critical faculties wouldn't dream of doing.

In short, most Mail readers are idiots. Controversial? What ?

Why do the Left hate the family? Liberals will ignore new findings that children growing up with a mother and father fare best

Yes, how dare those pesky left-liberals ignore findings of a scientific report, it's not as though the Mail does this (well, apart from about Global Warming, the economy, speeding etc etc.)

Quote:
The reason why Labour left hate the traditional family is three fold in my opinion. 1. Hardline femenism. 2. Promotion of same sex marriage 3. Anything loosely connected to Christianity ie Marriage.

Every tax & benefit policy rolled out by Gordon Brown over the last 12 years has been pro. alternative family or lifestyle and anti traditional two parent family or Marriage.

While each of the above groups have a right to stand up for their way of life the government has no right to penalise Marriage and traditional families by policies which not only promote alternative lifestyles but has dramatically increased benefit fraud on a mass scale. Tax credit fraud is out of control and well known that up to 70% of single parent claims are dishonest.

The government went out of it's way to legalise same sex marriage (fair enough) however the very opposite has been done for traditional marriage. Labour blame Mrs Thatcher for smashing ordinary families IT IS THEY WHO ARE FINISING THE JOB

Quote:
The irony is that most parents that I talk to already know that what these new research shows are true. Many, if not most, are sick and tired of the liberal experiments that have run rough shod over our societies core institution - the family.
It's simply undeniable that traditional values - lovingly applied - create a better and more stable society.

My personal favourite is the liberal confusion between child abuse and child discipline. Criminalising loving parents who would give a naughty child a hiding - how sad is that? My parents gave me a few hidings when I grew up. I now remember them with a smile knowing that they did what was right and loving eventhough my backside disagreed at the time!
Compare this with the failed ASBO's scheme trying to tame feral youths who's parents have abandoned their responsibility of disciplining their children - but how can they when they're too scared? And the law don't back them up?

It's time for the silent majority to speak up!

For a silent majority, you don't half bang on...

The Left hate the family because the family is an obstacle to the State, State power and social engineering. They always have hated it and always will.

I don't necessarily think most mail readers are idiots. I think they're victims. It isn't just the Mail. The Express, The Sun, even the Telegraph has been printing some of the stories most trotted out - mostly banging on about PC. Then you throw in various tv programs like Tonight with Trev.

The Mail is also extremely clever at writing. It can write something in just a way that it's actually believable. Hell even I end up getting taken in, before I remember how mailwatch has proven them to be liars hundreds of times over. If you actually like the Mail then you're bound to be taken in. Add to this the fact they pay top money for spectacular pictures of volcanoes and stuff, and throw in a huge dose of heat magazine, and it's not too hard to see why so many people are hooked.

One excuse I frequently hear is "they're not allowed to lie", which is wrong 1. because the PCC won't do anything significant to them and 2. you don't have to tell a lie in order to lie.

In short, they are idiots but they don't consicously set out to be idiots, they just get taken in because they're surrounded by negative news. And then I guess they get so immersed in the fact that "everything's shit" that they'll believe anything.

Yes, I see what you mean. The difficulty I have with that is that so many of them seem to be absolutely irredeemable in their unfettered enthusiam for the "truth" of the Mail, when the reality is that that truth is just something they've bought into through their own excess of gullibility. A fair proportion of people aren't taken in by it at all - as Mailwatch's existence is at least some testament to - so how do those who stay signed up to fuck-witted intolerance courtesy of the Mail keep on refusing to see reality, if not through sheer idiocy?
