Policeman is a respectable job provided you work the beat in a middle class area / have never worked on speed cameras / killed foreign criminals

Also anyone who works in a town hall on a council is a pinko commie, unless a Tory, UKIP or BNP councillor

He can also aquire respectability by proxy - viz. those to barmy old women who don't see why they should pay a few quid tax on a house they got for free:

Elderly sisters lose last ditch legal bid to have death tax parity with gays

mjs mentioned nurses as a "commie" job, thats true for those who did a nursing degree, but the good old days of matron and whatnot are respectable.

Also anyone who ever goes on strike, no matter what they're profession, is always a filthy communist

I doubt the Mail has a high opinion of them any way before they went on strike, I doubt very much that there's any love lost between the Mail and the Express...

Could I add 'airline' pilot to list of respectable professions, especially, Hero Airline Pilot. That is until there's a slow news day and the poor fokker gets trashed...

Not respectable: Fat-Cat, profiteering executives.

Respectable: Middle management - the kind of people who shuffle paper and people around and produce fuck all. Coincidentally part of the Mail's core target demographic.

Semi-respectable but nevertheless chavs: Anyone who actually does any proper, productive work.

Edit: Can't believe I left out an apostrophe.

Except everyone associated with DMGT management of course, since the Daily Mail is obviously the saviour of all humanity.

Engineers are respectable.

Teachers who teach 'proper' subjects like chemistry, physics and maths are respectable, but media/film teachers are the lowest of the low.

Scientists are variable- when they research things that don't conflict with the Mail's agenda, then it's ok (e.g. Some space exploration stories), but woe betide environmental scientists, bloody nuisance they are.

Author's are respectable if they've been mentioned by Richard and Judy, so have been screened for any leftish sentiments

Don't think I saw Human Rights lawyer in the list, they're considered unrespectable by the Mail.

I think the Mail would like to see all human rights lawyers locked up indefinitely without charge.
