For what it's worth, I can assure you from experience that absences from the Civil Service, of any sort, are watched like a hawk. Unexpected absences (due to illness, emergency, whatever) HAVE to be notified by the absentee to their line manager by phone. If these absences are likely to last longer than a day, the absentee has further to call in each day to provide an update. Indeed, the DWP even had a system whereby line managers would travel to the homes of unexpected, unannounced absentees to check if they were alright. So, once again, Littledong is talking grade-A bullshit.

And I'd imagine if you're a high grade MI6 cryptography expert the alarm bells would ring even quicker...

Just as a request, is there any chance if changing the title of this thread?

I occasionally shop in Lidl and in no way does it deserve to be associated with RJ.

So if we assuming that Littledick has no statistics to prove that civil servants can not go to work for months on end without anyone noticing, what does he have? Anecdotal evidence? Name some names then RL, because if true it's a serious issue that needs addressing. No? Not got any?

Civil servants do this, nurses do that, Muslims do the other. I won't name them though - that way I won't get into trouble for lying about them.

Certainly, MI6 has questions to answer, such as: why wasn’t Mr Williams’s exotic private life picked up when he was vetted?

Because it's 2012 Richard, not the 1950s. With much less scope for blackmail.

We really need a Canadian Radio Law. And apply it to newspapers, too.

What utter tosh, after wasting half the article on a total non-story he tries to claim that Leveson is a waste of time because none of his followers have written to him or emailed him about the Leveson inquiry. Littledick also claims he gets hundreds of letters and emails a week from readers which seems a bit odd seeing as his column only seems to attract 50 comments a week and most of them are from John Smith or Wally Toynbee.

A moment of self-awareness in his exciting lead paragraphs:

Quote:
You might think this is a trivial incident, but it’s a Bank Holiday Monday and I’ve got a column to fill.

He does manage to mention last week's elections right at the end, but seems to think the only aspect worthy of his mighty pen is sundry candidates dressing up as animals.

Lidljohn's readers are so uninterested in Leveson that he writes about it in his column.

Looks like we are still getting under the skin of 'Withnail Xtreme'

Quote:
Excellent perception, as usual from Richard. Keep winding up those smarmy idiots on that irrelevant nonsensical and odious 'so called' forum, who lamely attempt to degrade him on a daily basis, for no reason other than to make their own tedious existence appear worthwhile. Richard talks sense, that's the difference. If more people were like this man, the UK would be a better place.

Not seen that before. Perhaps, like Linda Bellos, I'll revise my opinion of Winner too. Or perhaps it's simply that Littlejohn is such an egregious arsehole even someone like Winner can't stomach him.

Freedom of the press and freedom of speech means freedom to lie.
