Backwards-facing seat and a pre-takeoff glass of champers? Sounds like she might be sitting in BA Club World class... can anyone from the 1% confirm?

Certainly sounds like she's sitting in business class at least, could be one of several airlines (not an American airline probably). I speak not as one of the 1% but as one of the 99% who's been lucky enough to fly business on, er, business (because your masters want you refreshed and not wasting a single moment being tired).

I'm sure Daddy was happy to donate some of his air miles for the ticket - he must have millions given that he apparently commutes between Vero Beach and Tottenham at least once a week.

I saw a bloke at the station yesterday who was still wearing his poppy on his coat. Seriously.

A bit like the people who leave their Xmas decorations up until March.

More fine journalism. Imagine getting paid to flick through the Daily Star and rip off an article. I mean, the sheer pressure...

She's not just given out her phone number, has she?

Indeed she has. Some time ago she actually put her mobile number up -- I was so shocked I didn't have the presence of mind to get a screengrab of it, and when I went back later she'd deleted it.

It's hard to write a phrase with so few words that have more than one syllable. (I fail.)

Dancing On Ice draft in extra rink-side medics after fears over celebrities' safety during risky and dangerous lifts

Because nothing says 'quality journalism' like an article reheated from something that was in the Daily Star.

I've just clicked on ten random stories on the Mail website, 6 of them were lifted from other papers and 2 were clearly written by people who had simply watched a show on TV. So much for Mail reporters getting off their arses and doing some work.

Haven't been here for a while. Neither have I been here much at all, really. Hmm. Anyway.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2124937/Lily-Collins-famous-starts-eclipse-famous-musician-father-Phil.html

Quote:
She has spent much of her life as the daughter of one of the biggest and most famous musicians in the world.

I would guess, Georgina, that she's actually spent her entire life as his daughter.

As an aside - one of the biggest musicians in the world? What does that even mean? I know Meatloaf's lost some weight recently, but...

Quote:
But the tables have been turned in the Collins home of late as actress Lily starts to outshine her musician father Phil as a household name.

Yes, Georgina. With two 90210 appearances and a couple of film roles, she's definitely more famous than the man who wrote In The Air Tonight and drummed on early Genesis. Then fucked up later Genesis. Anyway.

Quote:
This is despite the fact that he has sold over 250million records with Genesis and as a solo artist and she only started to make a name for herself last year.

Oh right then. OK.

Quote:
But with her biggest role to date as Snow White in Mirror Mirror hitting cinemas this week, 23-year-old Lily is now starting to get more famous than her father - among her generation anyway.

It doesn't just become true if you (or her PR) keep saying it, Georgina.

Quote:
In an interview with the Sun newspaper, she spoke about the first time she realised that she was becoming famous in her own right.

So you've lifted some stuff out of the Sun and put a bit of dribbling around it. That's some top-quality hackery.

Quote:
She said: 'Someone told me they were listening to the radio and they were playing classic hits. At the end the DJ came on and said, "For all of you who don’t know, that was Phil Collins - Lily Collins’s dad."

"Someone told me something happened once and that means it's true."

Quote:
'I thought that was the weirdest thing, just so bizarre. Even my dad has said to me, "You know, I am known as your dad now". But he is extremely proud and couldn’t be happier.'

"My dad said something stupid so I'm repeating it. You're paying me for this, yeah?"

Quote:
And with any offspring of a celebrity, Lily said she worries that people will think that doors have been opened for her through their famous parent, giving her an unfair advantage.

Well I never!

Quote:
Phil, who was the dummer in Genesis before becoming an award-winning solo artist and actor, his most famous role to date being Buster Edwards in the 1988 film Buster about the Great Train Robbery, once said: 'She’s always got this thing hanging around her neck — she’s Phil Collins’s daughter.'

Read that whole chunk out loud. Where would you catch your breath?

Quote:
But Lily believes he was just defending her and said: 'He is probably just referencing what everyone assumes - that having the last name gives me an opportunity and protecting me from that.'

Why shouldn't we, Lily/spinner? Not like the meedya isn't known for rampant nepotism and shoulder-tapping or anything. I incidentally can't think why, Georgina, you'd choose to focus on that particular bit of the interview.

Quote:
She actually thinks that as she gets older she is looking more and more like her mother Jill Tavelman who was Phil's second wife and was married to him from 1984 to 1996.

Wait. What does the 'actually' have anything to do with the previous sentence? Read them together. Does that make sense, Georgina? What does that mean?

Quote:
Lily, who shot to fame last year when she starred alongside Taylor Lautner in Abduction

It wasn't exactly a box office smash, but OK.

Not actually got anything against Lily Collins. She can't be as bad as her dad. But Georgina: if you ever feel that you're not a very good journalist, don't let it bother you too much. Never got in your dad's way.

Nice job, webbtje. There can't be many more embarrassing dads than Phil Collins, so it must have been a relief for Lily to meet Littlejohn fille.

Georgina's copy is often borderline unreadable. The Mail clearly doesn't bother to sub-edit sidebar stories.
