From what I know of 'Miss Shriver' she is childless through choice and has given the matter of whether or not to reproduce a lot of thought; one of the inspirations for the novel (novel - it's fiction and not an expression of her non-existent bitterness at being childless) was apparently thinking about how a woman who wasn't sure about having kids would feel if she did have a child, despite being ambivalent about it, and whether her feelings would have an effect on that child. Not that that matters to Tookey I suspect.

Way back in the mid-1990s I was on the editorial staff of a film magazine and Tookey's absurd rants in the Mail were a constant source of irritation even then.

He had long periods of semi-sanity, which leads me to the belief that he doesn't believe most of the drivel he comes out with. I imagine a diktat comes from Dacre, so he has to switch into Peter Hitchens mode every now and again.

I'm a bit behind, but I've just read Tookey's Human Centipede article. He makes a lot of comments about the spineless BBFC etc., but then sort of defeats his own arguments by making the usual Daily Mail claim that all these torture porn films are freely available to watch uncut on the Internet anyway.

I think we all know what needs to be done. Switch off the Internets NOW, before someone makes a real human centipede!!! I have been watching horror films and using the Internets a lot lately, and have subsequently been having many thoughts about making some kind of Rightminds centipede. I can't decide on the running order, but given Littlejohn's love of recycling shit, he would not be at the front.

I note the Mail's resident cineaste once more has found time to clutch his pearls and complain about the work of Park Chan-Wook, is a diatribe loosely disguised as a review of his current flick Stoker

I don't doubt this would be more effective if he'd managed to get the title of Sympathy For Mr Vengeance correct, or acknowledge it was part of a trilogy of sorts.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the work of a professional. Apparently. It's not at all like one of those Gumtree ads from someone who can't quite spell "Playstation".

A film Tookey loathes is usually worth a look. Even by Mail standards his diatribes read like a timewarp.

There's also Mail swipes at TV sex and violence, while its TV page often recommend them as pick of the day in a grown up way.

Good one from the Sun was Gary Bushell urging readers to boycott lefty Channel 4 for showing 'pro IRA' anti British Ken Loach triller Hidden Agenda.

Over on the TV guide recommend film of the day was from 'pro IRA' Sky Movies- Hidden Agenda, 'exciting Troubles set thriller 4 stars.'

It's case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing I think. One hand being the newspaper that despairs at the state of modern media, and the other being the entertainment/online department which regularly posts material that would anger the newspaper section no end - images of dead bodies, images from lads mags, pointless celebrity stories and so on.
