The Mail knows its readers are eager to read about Claire Lomas, the woman who completed the London Marathon in a bionic suit. It lands an interview with her, and runs with this awful soap-opera angle:

The REAL reason marathon woman deserves a medal: Let down by her ex when she needed him most... and how she found happiness with her husband

The readers are united in their admiration for Claire Lomas, but not for the Mail:

Quote:
DM- sorry but you are wrong! She deserves a medal not because she was dumped and found happiness again but because she did an amazing thing by finishing the marathon with true courage, grit, bravery and determination. Her ex was not worthy of her so she is better off without him. People like her are brave no matter what happens.

I think it's disgraceful that a story about a woman who has done a wonderful and incredibly brave thing in walking this should be packaged as a story about her love life - what's the relevance? I'm so impressed by her actions, and I think it's a travesty that she hasn't been given a medal. I also think that that should be allowed to stand alone as a story.

DM, you have cheapened her story and her achievement by giving it this gutter tabloid slant. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I think it is wrong to say that her boyfriend failed to support her when she needed him, not everyone is cut out to cope when a loved one is disabled in such a debilitating way. This woman is inspirational but please to not denounce the boyfriend.

Not sure if we have a thread for commenters who don't read the story properly before posting (if we did it'd be about a thousand pages long) so I'm posting this here

As a side note this story seems to have brought out the US pro-lifers overnight...

In a similar vein, I have stopped holidaying in Scythia as a result of their human rights abuses in Macedonia.

Could point out to the ones who sadly don't appear to be joking that historicaly our nation has done a fair bit of child killing itself, and not as far back as a thousand years either.

But I can't be arsed, it wouldn't get in anyway.

Yes but that was good child killing carried out by plucky Brits so, therefore, fully justified and not the same at all. If you weren't such a woolly liberal Shyamz you'd be able to see the difference.

Ah yes, my mistake. All that Guardian reading must have clouded my judgement for a moment there, I'm off to beat myself with a St George's flag to repent. :)

That's better, just make sure you don't enjoy it.

after posting in cunt of the day I feel I should add this one from the same bollocks article to even things up

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... peech.html

Quote:
so this enquiry is for what? Somebody tell me I have got it all wrong!- Martin, UK>>>> You have. This enquiry shows how a Press conglomerate was secretly running the country. Bribing police, suborning civil servants, hacking phone systems and nudging us into pointless wars in which hundreds of our soldiers died. Never mind. It will soon be over and then you can go back to reading all that really important stuff about Pippa Middleton's bottom and Wayne Rooney's hair transplant.
