I used to post on the Mail's site under the psuedonym Ada Brady (one for the Viz fans) arguing that exact point. But that was a send-up of what I saw as extreme Mailite views.

Posing as a right-wing nutter amongst a sea of right-wing nutters - Poe's Law indeed! :)

I'm reminded of Blackadder reflecting on his own failed plan to get out of the trenches by pretending to be mad "...after all who would notice another madman around here?"

The thing is, you can just look at Rover or British Leyland being rubbish, blame that and the miners strikes and the price of the london underground on trade unions not being willing to adapt and say "trade unions are bad".

But to say the entire NHS should be sold off because it's better to have a business is making more profit than it is to have a universal healthcare system is a whole new level of crazy. Likewise with the 'privatise everything and get rid of all employee rights' argument. You can argue that people only got those rights because of TUs, but plenty of people wouldn't make the connection, so they'd say get rid of TUs without realising the consequences. But to actually wish for Britain to go back 200 years is just....bizarre.

Yet very popular in the USA, the Conservative party* and the Daily Mail, Express, Telegraph, Fox News etc etc

Unfortunately "Crazy" does not equal "unsupported".

Yes, but I think there's a real difference between introducing competition to the NHS, and just splitting it up and selling the assetts, with no provision for free healthcare.

I cannot see where that real difference might be if the former leads to stretched budgets being apportioned partly to healthcare and partly to private profit. It is merely a matter of degrees.

But if we sold all the hospitals and turned them into B&Q stores and Jaguar dealerships, and the only hopsitals left are BUPA, how do poor people get healthcare if they can't afford it?

You might not like the changes to the NHS, and I don't, but we still have the goverment providing free healthcare. Whether that's because they're running the hospital, or they're giving the money to Medicorp UK LTD, is irrelevant to the patient.

Roger is saying "Get rid of the NHS. If you want healthcare, pay for it". As opposed to "allow private healthcare companies to treat patients, with the funding coming from the NHS budget". The two are very, very different.

He's back!!!

"Not this old myth again!!!?!! Women do not have orgasms because there is no biological need. Stupid women feel the need to fake them because Feminists have told them they should in order to create the illusion that they are as good as men. I have frequently had to instruct my various partners to be quiet as I find it disgusting and most off-putting. Please stick to factual stories in future DM.

I'm eagerly awaiting his response to my comment:

"I have frequently had to instruct my various partners to be quiet as I find it disgusting and most off-putting. - Roger, England, 7/6/2011 21:30 ----- Yeah I can see how the constant squeaking of the rubber would be off-putting Roger. Why don't you try letting a little more air out of them?

"various partners" = he's got a wardrobe full of them.

I wish I could claim credit for Roger's comment, but it wasn't me.

The last time Roger had sex with his dolly, she burst, farted and flew out of the bedroom window!
