Soooo... that's a 48 year old who committed suicide by jumping off a building kind of 'history repeating itself'.

The Mail hacks will be out in force digging the dirt.

They've already broken the guidelines on reporting suicide. But still tragic.

Perhaps the skulls and swirly patterns of despair were too much? In the graphic, his trajectory of doom is literally between the giant names of two death obsessed artists. The fact that people then took pictures of the scene, thinking it was a stunt, could be read as a further meditation on the nature of contemporary attitudes towards mortality and art... by a more thoughtful newspaper anyway.

In the Mail World cleverness qualifies you for the freakshow. They do this every year or so, usually defining intelligence as having an eidetic memory or something.

As far as they're concerned, learning by rote is good. Gradgrind would be proud.

Traumatised children sit on the stairs, hugging their knees. FACT.

Where's the absurdity, Arnold? Looks to me like it makes the point pretty well on a very non-trivial story.

True, but it's always stairs and the same posture. Is there no alternative?

Does there have to be? It's visual filler and mood imagery.

What about the article?

Unless they're telling us something they're not meant to tell us about how the body was hidden.
