It wasn't meant to be funny. I don't find you at all amusing, just very very tedious.

Bishops and priests with flamethrowers, going out to burn every single protestor to a crisp. How very Christian.

Could you clarify exactly why drawing images about bishops committing murder is funny?

Of course he couldn't. He's just flicking the Vs and saying 'you're all shit' to us. There's nothing more behind it.

It does make me chuckle watching him get so wound up by our 'lefty hypocrisy' though :D

That could have been a funny, and apposite cartoon. The old churchwardens lined up in the doorway are comic, and Mac is enough of a cartoonist to make the most of that. The unfunny part, of course, is the implied (by the flamethrowers) threat of the use of deadly force. This is distasteful in and of itself, but also would be utterly out of character for the churchwardens and Rector both as Christians and as the characters as drawn. If Mac had chosen to arm them with some other 'comedy' implements intended to drive the occupiers off but not kill them - I don't know what, but he's getting paid for thinking about this and I'm not - it could have worked well. I still wouldn't have agreed with it, because I'm in favour of Occupy, but there's a difference between a good cartoon you don't agree with and a shit cartoon.

Now perhaps Abob would like to come back with a 100 word critique defending his point of view?

But Armsteen, the caption makes it clear that the clergy's sole motivation is to provide the Occupy protesters with a little warmth on a chilly October night.

That they've hilariously blundered by choosing innappropriately lethal flamethrowers to do so is the crux of the joke. Isn't it?

Is that my coat just there ? :?
