He's like Tony Parsehole. Both men had fathers who fought in the war, and they grew up with the awareness of that, and a reasonably comfortable upbringing. Cue massive inferiority complex translating into being a fearless keyboard warrior and armchair general.

David Irving did the same schtick. Apparently the men on the beaches on D-Day would have given up and gone back home if they'd foreseen the darkies who live in Britain now.

Speak for your fucking self. But as someone who lives in one of the areas with the lowest white populations in the country, I think it's probably preferable to Nazi Germany, just about.

I like the idea that all the bomber crews were virtuous young men who only thought of their duty to King and country. Nerves of steel, for certain, but they were had the same thoughts as anybody else.

I may be wrong, but I'd have thought a bunch of lads fully aware death was lurking every time their took to the air may well have been happy to take any escape they could get, be it drink and some time with any young woman they could get their hands on.

The war generation which voted in a Labour landslide in 1945.

Yes because bored young men away from their womenfolk are famously averse to porn.

It never gets painted on the side of their aircraft (for example).

What? Spunk?
Wouldn't that affect the aerodynamics?

Surely it would improve it? I'm thinking of wet otter fur (as is normal for this time of night)

i'd wager a fair few of them were lonely lads, but if you're "lonely" enough to effect the wind resistance of a plane you're probably getting into medical problem territory.

Dangerous is the word you're looking for Malc.
Bloody sharp teeth on an otter and they don't always take to it straight away.

I meant to say "oily otter fur". Either way, I need a lawyer.

I was thinking of the stuff they painted on the nose of their aircraft.
Hardly porn, more glamour or pin-ups.

Like this from a Canadian Lancaster.

The USAF is beter known for their decorations.

The Brits appeared to be officialy restricted to rethar sober themes, though these days the RAF is second to none.

gah, had a wander over to the dark side today so see what the counterfeit hitch* is up to, only to find him opening a commenter bashing post (weirdly mostly centered around a woman who seemed to be asking a list of reasonable questions about mental health treatment, because apparently nothing says stupid like a desire to become more informed) with the following gloriously self-unaware comment:

Quote:
Welcome once again to the Peter Hitchens remedial school for people who don’t know how to argue.

and closing with this one:

Quote:
By the way, as a footnote, Peter Reeve, the man believed to have shot dead Pc Ian Dibell in Clacton earlier this week, and who later killed himself, is persuasively said to have been taking ‘antidepressant’ medication. According to several newspaper reports today, Mr Reeve worked as a volunteer handyman at Clacton Gun Club. The club owner, Andy Riva, said: "He had a troubled past, he suffered from depression. You could tell from his mood swings if he was taking his medication.’ I found this fact because I was looking for it.

footnote to this footnote: what's selection bias?

*looks similar to the real one at first glance, but even the most cursory investigation reveals it to actually be a useless knock off made of lead paint and industrial waste.
