Another cunt to add to the Mail's long, long list.

Killers Philpott, Hazell and Bridger were all, to some degree, assisted in becoming monsters by the welfare benefits system

Quote:
Paedophile Mark Bridger, who murdered five-year-old April Jones, used state benefits to pay for a loafing lifestyle, consuming up to 20 cans of cider a day and gawping at child pornography on his computer.

Now it’ll cost the State an estimated £60,000 a year to keep him in prison for the rest of his days.

Is there a link between life on welfare and the vile crimes which appear on our daily news schedules?

Wealthy nonces fly out to places like Cambodia to abuse kids. Is there a link between their inflated wages and their noncey proclivities?

Hmm, he often writes about subject matter which makes me wonder if he is gunning for Littlejohn's job.

How much does a 140 cans of cider a week habit cost and what benefits was he on to pay for it? The hack has also inflated the cost of incarceration. As both of his claims are bollocks then it casts doubt over the rest.

I couldn't help but notice the way he sneaks this in at the end:
Quote:
Others such as religious fanatics claim welfare so they can pursue their private obsession.

Sometimes this is in direct conflict with the State which is giving them this subsidy.

For example, it was reported yesterday that the 'hate' preacher Anjem Choudary claims housing benefit of £1,300 a month to rent a £320,000 property in East London owned by his wife's family.

Choudary calls job-seekers' allowance ‘jihad-seekers' allowance' and justifies such benefit claims by saying: ‘The money belongs to Allah and if it is given you can take it.'

Unusually, the comments are unmoderated, which has led to an interesting split. In amongst the typical (and top-rated):
Quote:
Benefits also allow the worst elements of the underclass to breed in ever-increasing numbers, producing yet more defectives, ineducables and future criminals. We're replacing the hard-working and decent, who can't afford to have multiple children, with the products of the lowest of the low.
- Kate Evans, Nottingham, United Kingdom, 3/6/2013 6:43 125

there's also a fair bit of criticism, e.g.,:
Quote:
I will be putting in an official complaint about this article. I have never seen such dross, and such blatantly prejudiced scapegoating in my life. It's not even well-written. I particularly enjoyed the suggestion that everyone claiming benefits is stupid ("few intellectual resources") the mention of Philpott wanting to keep his girlfriend's welfare payments (I wonder how many crimes are committed because people want to cash in on life insurance policies...don't see any sensationalist headlines about that. Money is the cause of many crimes, welfare claimants do not have the monopoly on greed...far from it in fact) and the fact that the journalist provided A QUOTE FROM A READER EXRESSING THEIR OPINION as if it was some kind of 1) factual source and 2) a great revelation. Don't understand how this journalist can live with themself. Presumably they get well-paid for demonising the poor, pandering to the government's agenda of social engineering and economic terrorism. DISGUSTING.

I honestly wonder what people like this think would happen if the welfare state wasn't there to pacify the hated underclass they spend so much time worrying about. People like Kate Evans would shit themselves.

First came across McKay via a Private Eye spoof of his Standard column 'Peter McLie- the World's worst columnist', which contained trite observations and how this country was so behind ("I discovered a new hand warming invention called gloves whilst on holiday in America").

When I finally read the real thing it was almost the same, he was banging on about swivel seats on Japanese trains and why we so behind in this country by not having them.

Mind you, he's right about some things .....

Quote:
Is it just me, or are you weary of Dr Who stories? The incumbent actor, Matt Smith, says he’s quitting the role. Big deal!

Will the next occupant of the Tardis be black (Idris Elba?), a woman (Olivia Colman?) or two famous actors, John Hurt and Helen Mirren. Who cares?

The series is rubbish. Always has been. Always will be.

The stories are nonsense. The acting is pitiful. The special effects are dire.

IIRC MaKay has history with Private Eye. I think he used to write for them back in Richard Ingams day, when it was much morew gossip-led, and was shown the door when Hislop took over.

I recall fuming over offensively homophobic comments he made in his Sunday Times column in the 1990s, which makes me wonder how such an absolute no-talent has managed to stay in employment in the newpaper business for decades upon end. Even Littlejohn was sort of comtemporary once, but this bloke has just written drivel forever and continued to cashed his paycheck.

He is indeed The World's Worst Columnist. Notoriously fond of a drink, he was married to the vile TV "personality" Anne Robinson.

I understand that he frequently was, and so was Anne (who is now a recovering alcoholic).

Can't argue with that-
