More misleading than most, and even vs the first bullet point.
Quote:
Single-parent families so common in today's Britain that couples are now a minority
Seven constituencies in the country constitute more single-parent families than couples

Quote:
Single-parent families are now so common that couples living with their children are the minority in some parts of the country.
Data shows there are seven Parliamentary constituencies where single-parent families make up the majority of households

You notice the language - we no longer have one-parent or single-parent families, we now have 'lone-parent' families...

Tombstoning: The terrifying new craze in Britain in which children as young as 11 leap from clifftops into the sea... and some children are paying a terrible price
The fast-growing craze includes jumping into water from cliffs, piers and other structures
In the past eight years, this perilous pursuit has claimed the lives of 20 people and left more than 60 seriously injured

Surely a much older craze than eight years.

Hmm. I didn't know that either.

Full of single mothers and muggers. And over-taxed: What the Tubular Bells star of that glorious opening ceremony really thinks about Britain

I've read it over and even word-searched but I can't find anywhere in the story where he mentions these things.

But interestingly the last para reads thus:
Quote:
It’s just a pity that from this income he doesn’t pay all his taxes in Britain — and so help finance the public services that were honoured at the Olympic opening ceremony in which he took part.

Strange.

But it also prompts this out-of-touch moron to comment:

Too many sarcastic comments about the dangers of that new rock and roll music that the kids are listening to?

I'm reminded of when the film "Bright Young Things" (based on Evelyn Waugh's 'Vile Bodies') was released. The publicity made the connection that this was a film about young people partying all the time, listening to riotous music with obscene lyrics, seemingly glued to their phones, having no respect for the older generation and taking colossal amounts of drugs. The point being, in 90 years not much has changed.

That's hasn't stopped the commenters:

Quote:
Burn a poppy - nothing happens, chant and shout death threats to home-coming soldiers - nothing happens. But God forbid you don't smile at an overblown sports day event - you get dragged to the ground, humiliated, arrested and interrogated for 5 hours. Is this the same country? What the hell happened to policing and common sense in the UK??

Think this story was first published in this week's Private Eye - which made no mention of the knives.

Are knives used in taekwondo? I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure they're not.

No, but they're used in self-defence demonstrations, which may tie in.

Down's syndrome girl', 11, faces death penalty for desecrating Koran in Pakistan

Quote:
Another police official, Qasim Niazi, said when the girl was brought to the police station she had a shopping bag that contained various religious and Arabic-language papers that had been partly burned but no Koran

Quote:
Officers added that the matter could be dropped once the investigation is completed and the atmosphere is defused, saying there was ‘nothing much to the case.’

Quote:
There were varying reports on the girl’s age and whether she suffered from Down's Syndrome. Ullah said she was 16 while other officials have said she was either 12 or 11

Quote:
Niazi said that when the girl was brought to the police station she was scared and unable to speak normally, but he did not know whether she suffered from mental health issues.

So actually, her age hasn't been confirmed, they don't know if she did burn a Koran, and it's not known whether she suffered mental health issues or if she was just scared, and the matter could be dropped once things have calmed down, and no mention of killing her.

Doesn't stop the morons lining up to make some pretty extreme comments, though.
