Daily Mail's net gains may have more showbiz glamour than real quality

Quote:
"This is the Daily Mail – we don't DO vision," says one sardonic team toiler.

Quote:
Perhaps the monthly total figures give a misleading impression – one of Clarke's pet themes when he speaks at net conferences these days. Of that 8.9 million home-territory users last month, an average 611,588 came to the digital Mail every day – and about half of them, making one visit or two, stayed for 20 minutes, roughly equivalent to the time a Mail print reader might spend with his paper. But 300,000 web readers (including some who have already bought the paper) is only around one-fourteenth of the Mail's daily print audience. Useful, but not staggering numbers.

I wonder if the Mailites know the Mail knows how long they spend on their site and how often they visit etc. Big Brother, 1984, Stasi Britain, etc.

I realise that Boing Boing is famous for its overreaction and biased reporting of stuff like this, but I'd like to see the Mail's reaction to this: http://www.boingboing.net/2009/09/30/uk ... ys-ps.html

This could be what they've been calling for: Racial profiling and the assumption that nice white middle class people are innocent and everyone else is guilty. This is fucking terrifying.

I really thought we had got over this shit. Confusing race (whatever that is) and nationality. 'Testing for isotopes' - that means looking to see where someone grew up. Nothing to do with ethnicity and fuck-all to do with nationality.
Do they have some sort of Star Trek tricorder to check DNA? If not, there are not the facilities in the country to check incomers.

What a bucket of shite.

Stop all immigration, then we won't need to use this shite DNA technology.
But we should first check Gordon Brown's DNA status, because I think he's an illegal leprous toad from the planet Thicko.

Case: most sad and desperate troll in Christendom.

Change your avatar to a shot of Littledong looking like a clueless spaz, Justin. I dare you. They're easy enough to find.

Drug-smuggling pensioners jailed

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8285922.stm

no sign of this.

Quote:
Wattie Soutter, 68, of Rotherhithe, south-east London, described as the drug deal's broker, was sentenced to nine-and-a half years in jail.

Derek Mercer and Andrew Rowe, both 70, received eight and seven year sentences respectively.

I found a full version of Boris' notably rounded comments in a copy of Asian Voice last week - but I didn't see anything in the DM:
