Indeed.

And yes, they all think all scientists do the same stuff and live in the same house and it's the physicists turn to get the milk.

Compare and contrast.

1) Horses die for human enjoyment:

Why did spooked horse ever run? Aintree tragedy could have been avoided, insist racing experts [with umpteen pictures of fallen horses]

Quote:
Devastating, absolutely devastating. Every single year this happens and evey single time it is so upsetting. Ban this evil event. RIP beautiful creatures.

2) Horse kills woman:

Hospital patient was kicked and mauled to death by stallion after she went for a walk 'on doctor's orders; [the semi-colon is the Mail's]

Quote:
Yet again someone trepasses on someone else's land and come to grief. Then as usual thg owner of the animals kept therein or the animals themselves are blamed. When will these idiots finally learn that fences are there to keep people out?

The most irritating thing about the "why aren't they curing cancer" bleat every time there is any kind of scientific advance ever is that the concept is so fundamentally flawed. Cancer isn't a single disease for which there is or can be a single cure. I saw it worded somewhere as being "like trying to find a cure for virus." Also the number of effective treatments for cancers and the number of cancers that can be treated is almost always increasing, survival rates are getting better and so on.

The expectation for scientists to be proficient in every field is just depressingly ignorant. It's also a tremendous missed oppurtunity for the simples who could have hours of fun developing unrealsitic demands for every branch of science or at least the three main ones. It'd be great to read some physics related piece and see the twats moaning that we don't have commercial FTL or something.

Also:

[/quote] What's the betting this bellend supports the death penalty for humans who've murdered someone despite the fact that they probably didn't do it for no reason either. And that they get just as shouty about it.

Everyone clearly knows why this woman is overreacting. There can clearly be no other alternative reason for this woman's reaction other than that she is overreacting. That is because all mail readers are omniscient.

63st teenager cut out of her home by 30 scaffolders, builders, police, fire and paramedics had not been outdoors for six months

The article sets up the readers for some fat-shaming by going into lots of detail about the operation to get the woman out of her home. Of course the most important information is not forgotten:

Quote:
The cost of the operation – involving police, fire service and ambulance crews – is likely to run into tens of thousands of pounds to cover manpower, plus the emergency call-out and the reconstruction of the demolished walls.

It's the story of a desperately sad 19 year old who:
Quote:
is believed to be suffering from diabetes, kidney disease, spinal problems and respiratory failure.

To which some Mailites respond with the compassion for which they're known:

Quote:
This is absoloutely disgusting, using important resources to help somebody who's idea of a great day is eating a few large tubs of ice cream and 3 or 4 family buckets from KFC. She did that to herself, let her drag herself out of bed. Shocking.

Don't know why she's looking so pleased with herself...

Sorry for her. Pity she didn't have a caring family. Mother says "She was always a large child". Mother needs re-educating. She was a FAT child. Oh NO, I can't use that word & that is part of the problem. Political Correctness means that we can't tell the truth because "someone" may be offended. If you are FAT, someone needs to tell you the truth not pansy about the edges in case you are hurt.

- Greytide, Middle England, 25/5/2012 10:17 Rating 242
That's right, nobody ever points out to fat people that they are fat; nobody ever makes snide remarks about what they eat. I bet this teenager was hardly aware of her size, given that she'd been to a weight-loss boot camp, tried all sorts of diets, and finally lost her mobility. We'd be doing fat people a favour if we simply spent all day, every day reminding them that they're fat until … bootstraps!

I read this story on the Indy site. The comments there aren't a lot better...
It seems as though there's no inhibition on piling hatred on the overweight these days, no matter what the circumstances (ie having a serious psychological condition).

And of course if somebody like a Social Worker or Teacher suggests that a child is becoming overweight we'll get a "ZOMG Nanny State worse than Stalin" sadface story.

The child lost her father when she was 5 and was traumatised. Her psychological problems seem to stem from that, eating for comfort got out of control. She needs sympathy and a proper programme of counselling and medical support, not being treated as a freak.

Sympathy and medical interventions are tools of the PC brigade. All she needs is endless abuse from the mindless empathy void that makes up the mail readership it'll give her character so she can get over it and stop eating so many pies.

I sometimes wonder what it's like to be the kind of person who writes this shit for the mail. Do they know the extent of the harm they cause? Do they read the comments and know that they influenced people, through their constant barrage of horrific articles, to hold those views? Do they giuve a shit? Are they actually such worthless sacks of shit that they know what they're doing, see the kind of people they appeal to and think it's a good thing? That kind of mindset seems so alien to me, it's difficult to imagine it really.

They simply blame the victim.
If this girl is obese, it's her fault, what does she expect? If she's offended - why? It's just banter, after all, just chat in a newspaper. (We've seen the same here, recently).

On BBC South East this morning they the topic of discussion on Radio Kent today - do you feel sorry for the 63 stone teenager that had to be cut out of her house?

I don't suppose anyone with any humanity rang in, why would they?
