You should copyright that. If they can write an article based on comments on their own site by saggy 50 year old Daily Mail women they can certainly use that!

That is one thing I haven't seen mentioned much on here. The bitchy comments on women under any article about a pretty celeb. It's unbelievable how catty the comments are. She's fat. She's got ugly hair. She's skinny. She looks old. I'd fucking love to see the state of the women that write these comments!

1 The "hits back at critics" angle. This allows the Mail to report the critical comments while appearing not to endorse them. Of course, the rag's real aim is to air the bitchy remarks to its own audience, in order to create yet more bitchy remarks in the form of a 'debate'.

2 Idiotic opinions on Twitter as a source of news. It would be, arguably, a news story if one of Douglas's rivals had made the remark about her hair. But as it is, the source is a couple of dweebs on the internet. Since it's possible to find idiocy in every comment thread in the Daily Mail, I assume it's even easier to dig out on twitter. All twitter-based 'controversy' stories are pointless, since they amount to 'Unqualified, attention-seeking nobody makes stupid comment on internet.'

3 Focus on woman's appearance, not on her achievement.

4 Attempt to set women against each other at all levels: between the tweeters and the athlete; among the commenters; and between those who are critical of the Mail for publishing this kind of crap, and those who clearly lap it up. Again, gives the impression that women are naturally at each others' throats, thus proving that female solidarity is a myth and a coherent feminist agenda a pipe dream.

What's the betting that Mail hacks set up Twitter accounts for them to make comments to create a story? Say you wanted to run an article about a young sleb having cellulite because the picture editor has a pap photo of the woman which, due to lighting or whatever, makes it looks like she has. All they then have to do is caption it and end the sentence with a question mark, bang off a few tweets and you have a story.

MailOnline finds clip posted on YouTube in April and asks:
