That's about £270,000 a year for each man, woman and child in the UK.

... I was wondering where all the money was going.

But it's much, much worse than that. We know only too well that only Mail-reading families ever pay tax - everyone else is either a benefit scrounger or a tax-evading fat cat. So I reckon we're talking about 4 million quid a year for every family. Brown and the EU have got a hell of a lot to answer for!

She said 'a day'.

A DAY.

Conclusion: Weems is now clinically insane, rather than batshit.

I'm beginning to change my mind about this unmoderated comments idea. The level of sheer unmitigated stupidity which is coming out is really embarrassing.

£45bn/day = £16.4tn/year

That's 6.1 times our 2008 GDP.

Part of my fears for her and hopes she typod or got mixed up. The other (bigger) part of me hopes people will believe her, tell everyone they know and look like complete asses for not doing 30 secs calculations.

I wonder if the Mail Online editor is thinking the same thing?

Presumably she meant "a year" rather than "a day".

But the fact that she can write this without realizing that it's obvious nonsense suggests that "£45 billion a day" or "£45 billion a year" doesn't actually have any quantitative information content for her. It's just "a big number".

I'm starting to think there should be some kind of test you should have to pass before you're allowed to use numbers bigger than a million.

What a nasty, snot-stained colostomy bag of an article. Worthy of Der Sturmer. What bags of shite.

Some sensible comments, some greened up a bit.

Felt the need to wade in with my tuppence-worth on this one:

Quote:
Cambourne was built partly to provide young couples with a way onto the housing ladder in the Cambridge area without the hugely inflated property prices of Cambridge and the surrounding villages which are driven up by the presence of the University, the local high-tech industries and the London-commuter effect.

It's no surprise, therefore that the birth rate there is higher than in other parts of the UK. Quite why this is a reason to regurgitate figures linking birth rates to immigration is beyond me although I notice it has provided a convenient excuse for those who claim to defend the 'indigenous people' (that phrase so beloved by the BNP) of this country to crawl out of the woodwork.

'cos I'm local and...

'Shaun of York'
'Giggles (really?) of Oxford'
'Harry Williams of Hythe'

Speaking as a 'white indigenous' person of this nation, keep your poison dripping to yourself. Not in my Name!

'cos I felt like it.

You seem to have got an odd reaction from 'Giggles'

Some of the more offensive comments on that story have disappeared, including two I complained about. I suspect it doesn't take that much to get a comment removed from an unmoderated story.
