I've compiled a list of articles online today from the right-hand column that are little more than blatant PR for magazines, TV programmes, films, products, recording artists etc. These are the most blatant ones, but I left out a few that also had more than a faint whiff of PR about them. I imagine there's plenty more in the 'Science&Tech' and 'Health' sections, but it would take me the rest of the day to list it all. Shocking.

It's called PDC — picture-driven content. It makes the page look pretty, and attracts readers who are put off by too much (ie, any) text.

The stories in the sidebar of shame come from three sources: paparazzi agencies, other media (magazines and tv companies), and corporate PR (especially for surveys). And the Mail has the audacity to complain about a liberal media elite which talks to itself.

Really, how hard is it to see that it's all bollocks? The guy said that the way to make money was to invent a religion, then he did, and people actualy took him seriously?

Pint of the black stuff ... on ice: Guinness bids to conquer crowded U.S. beer market with new 'black lager'
link
Quote:
The company describes the new taste as light and crisp with a subtle hint of malt, and a slight hop finish. One mid-afternoon suds sipper got a preview taste.

'Oh,' she said, surprised. 'I actually like it and I’m not a big Guinness drinker. It looks like you’re drinking a Guinness, but it tastes like you’re drinking a lager.'

Drinking in the afternoon? On benefits I bet!

Who wants to be a millionaire? Meet the Avon reps

As the global giant celebrates its 125th anniversary this week, Jane Gordon meets some of the entrepreneurial stars who are working hours that suit them − and making serious money in the process

Quote:
What a load of rubbish - I have done Avon about 5 times in my life in different areas. Covering a radius of 10 miles the most I ever made selling was £180 and the commission is utter rubbish. The only way to make money at this is if you have a relative or friend that works in a large company. Other wise don't bother ! Its a waste of shoe leather ..........
