That's what I meant. It would be perfectly normal to take his shoes off when he gets indoors and leave them on a shoe rack, like 99.9% of all Muslims do. As well as people with new carpets, some old ladies and my son.

Mr Kurulay, a security guard at his local magistrates’ court, had to go to work wearing flip-flops and was given a ticking off by his boss.

Seems he does not possess a proper pair of shoes anyway. Trainers are surely not proper footwear for a court security guard and what were flip flops doing in the house? Scandalous!

THREE pairs of trainers! How many feet does this man have!

Which is why sensible people have a shoe rack just inside the door to store outdoor footwear. The only hazard risk is then to the people living inthe property. He was lucky to get them back. In my neighbourhood they would have been stolen. What's the point of telling his story to the papers? The council did the right thing, and he is living in the UK now not Turkey. And WHY is anyone from Turkey entitled to a council property in the UK? Turkey is not in the EU.

If he had a house, would he have left them out of doors to get rained on? Obviously not.

They're getting a bit of a kicking in the comments.

They've had a few stories recently of people being told off by the council for leaving things like door mats, pictures and plants in communal areas. Every time, the comments columns have been full of Mailites spluttering about council jobsworths. In Mr Kurulay's case, they're all in favour of the council. What could the difference possibly be?

That's now been pointed out in the [mostly batshit insane] comments. In Turkey the custom is to have a cupboard just inside the doorway to store any temporarily unwanted footwear.

This should be cross-referenced into the "Compassion..." thread. They're out in force today.

There's a stall at Dover now that just dishes out designer trainers to every non-caucasian alighting from the continent.
Then a Limo takes them straight to their brand new 8 bedroom Westminster penthouse.

Nicely proof-read too.

I feel sorry for the parents, but the story is a Mail writer's wet dream.

Definitely wronged, but a PLU failure.

Quite the contrary. That's not just a school uniform, but a C of E school uniform. And mum's put on her Sunday best. This family knows how to push Mailite buttons.

The story is unclear. It claims he was "hauled" off the bus and "frogmarched to waiting police". Yet it also says he was "kicked off" and then questioned by "ticket inspectors". The only reference to the police is from the mother, who says:
Quote:
'Marcus came home crying. The poor boy was very distressed. They had police officers and PCSOs.'

Where did they come from? I can see two possibilities. Either Marcus made a massive scene. Or the ticket inspectors were absurdly heavy-handed, perhaps because Marcus doesn't look quite so PLU on a non-uniform day (in which case why has the Mail ignored the racism angle?).

Also, this happened on the journey home. Perhaps Marcus didn't take the bus in the morning, but if he did, he ought to have noticed already that he'd left his card at home.
