Quite a day - 2 blazers, 2 psycho kids.
Still I'm sure it'll all be fixed by a rebranding to O-levels.

This is just another example of the poor Eduction system we have in this country. Apparently in the last 10 years only an handful of Teachers have been struck off. The majority don't give "Dam" about the children, they're only in the profession for the financial rewards................

I like to think the response about the poor standard of education was a deliberate attempt at irony,

I thought most teachers joined the teaching profession because they are lefties intent on stopping right wingers like Michael Gove from reforming the education system.

That must be a first for sadface stories - a sadfacer holding up an item that they themselves have created.

Clearly, in terms of the comment above, a sign of a good education system is that lots of teacher get "struck off". Utopia indeed.

Cause they're too thick to get into secretarial work.

I don't know sad faces are like buses, you see none for ages and then 8 come along at one go.

Image

Family of eight could be left homeless by High Speed rail network as negative equity trap will leave them without a penny
Widow Vikie Shanks and her seven children could lose their home and be left with no money to purchase another
The family have now filed a lawsuit challenging the amount they have been offered by HS2

These two sentences seem to blow a big hole in the story.

Quote:
'According to the land ownership information we have obtained from Land Registry, the line does appear to pass through some of the land associated with the Shanks’ property.
'Until further design and planning work has been completed we are not in a position to confirm the extent of the land that would need to be acquired.

It also says that they have lived in the house for 25 years but her late husband took a mortgage out on the property for £600,000 shortly before he died. Would a mortgage lender really lend that kind of money if the husband did not have some kind of life insurance to pay off the loan? And what did they spend the £600,000 on because it certainly wasn't spent doing up the house.

I see she apparently consulted her kids on whether they should sell the house or remain in it. Amazing.

Looking at the map of the proposed line near her house, it doesn't actually go through it - just through some of her land. Plenty of people live closer to railway lines (I appreciate it wouldn't be much of a rural idyll any more though).

Edit: according to TonyHoyle's link a couple of posts upthread, the husband committed suicide; I'm not sure if life insurance is paid out in the event of the holder killing themselves?

Sod the railway line, what I want to know is why the fuck has their house got a 1960s temporary classroom sticking out of the first floor?

I wonder if the Mail have checked this story properly, the woman has already been to PPC about her local papers reporting of her husbands suicide (which may explain why the mortgage was not repaid on his death).
