Hateful Justin Bieber fans vent fury online at singer Esperanza Spalding after he loses out at the Grammys

Of course, the strapline says "Meet Esperanza Spalding", and talks her up. But we can't let accuracy get in the way of the star system.

If the quotes're accurate, I actually like the sound of this Spalding girl, even if I don't know who she is. So, from the look of it, do the comments.

The parents of those "Beliebers" must be so proud!

If it's the film you're thinking of, then you've got him confused with Brady Corbett.

I'm actually surprised the Mail hasn't seen this growing androgeny in celebrity teens as a sign of Broken Britain

I know as people grow older it's par for the course that they moan about modern music, because it's not their generation, but kin' hell, modern music IS mostly shit when you look at the crap the industry has to offer at the Brit awards. Instead of building on the 90s resurgence, or at least maintaining the standards achieved then, British music has gradually faded away over the past decade into an abyss of utter mediocrity.

I know it's easy to blame Simon Cowell for strangling the soul out of music...so I will. No coincidence that the decline has coincided with his rise to power. And shame on Steve Tyler from Aerosmith for endorsing that avenue by judging on American Idol or whatever it is. He did it the "proper" way so why doesn't he go and listen to bands playing live and recruit and sign up talent that way?

Yeah, but it is the Brits. It's always been a celebration of shit.

A quick scan of that list touched upon James Corden, Fearne Cotton, Ben Elton, Noel Edmonds, "Best comedy song", and the Beatles winning Outstanding Contribution awards about a million times. Celebration of shit indeed.

I think it's only matched by that bleak period sandwiched by Stourbridge/Madchester/Grunge on one side and Britpop on the other. Which, aside from New Order being brilliant, saw the charts dominated by Scatman John, Whigfield and Rednex.

Or whatever else was the anthem to vomit to in Ibiza that summer.

Modern British music is fantastic and varied.

You just have to ignore anything which Fearne Cotton mentions. Ever.
