One of my (private school) teachers was recalled from India on child abuse charges. I didn't particularly like him, but I was very surprised to hear these allegations.

The case was dismissed.

The police are not at all happy.

When I was 20 I bumped into my old English teacher in a club who, during my A levels was pretty much fresh out of training college. For several reasons I was doing a third year of a levels when she started.

We'd always got on well and... Well, got on VERY well that night..

I expect the mail would want her sacked and imprisoned with immediate effect...

Wasn't even aware of this sordid club in my own city.

Calling this 'pole dancing' really is stretching it rather too far. Anyone with two eyes and a brain can figure out that this is not a pole and she is not pole dancing. For a hen night, this doesn't seem too bad at all really.

Unfortunately for the Mail, they've been chasing the pound of the Heat magazine audience for a while now, with all their celebrity bullshit, gossip, and paparazzi shite. At the risk of stereotyping, I think this new audience is usually quite fond of a good alcohol-fuelled knees up. So when the Mail does a reverse ferret and does some holier-than-though shit like this aimed at their previous core of doddering pearl-clutchers, the new audience is going to think "so what?". Don't see anything wrong myself either.

Crikey, they're getting a real kicking from this one. Supportive comments are in the green, with the top at a stratospheric 5565!

That's astonishingly high. Should I join in is it better not to give the Mail the hit?

Silkyman, I don't know if they would. If this teacher was a reactionary, who rose to be Chief Inspector of Schools, they might make an exception.

I'm jealous of you.

Girl, 13, crushed to death by a falling branch as she sat on park bench because her teachers were out on strike

Epic fail on this story judging by the comments.

Some of the comments are gold.

So how many kids are killed in Road Traffic Accidents on their way to or from school? How many are abducted, molested and/or killed? That's school's fault, that is. Seems like, based on the figures we have available right now, it's safer to be in the park with friends than it is to go to school. Well done, Daily Mail, for highlighting this serious issue.

I blame whoever planted the tree there in the first place! Who the hell decided, 10-40 years ago to plant a tree in that place so that it would kill this poor girl?! People who plant trees need to get a real job in the real world and stop planting trees that kill people!!!

It's still implying she got killed because her teachers were on strike though isn't it.

The towns with jobs galore... but no one who wants to do them (and applicants who can't even be bothered to turn up for interview on time)

This is total tripe. I'm an employer and most of the candidates I see are so desperate for work, I've had people in tears when I ring them to tell them they were unsuccessful ! This is just another way for the media to turn opinion against people on benefit and it is sickening, not everyone who claims is lazy!.. and most who are on benefits are struggling.. could you live on £50 per week? With only half a million vacancies in the UK against 2.75 million people unemployed there is NOT a job for everyone, in fact there are 5 people for every free job, right now.. today! and a large number of those jobs people will not be qualified for due to years of government pushing sub standard education! So before people go passing judgement on the unemployed perhaps if they took time out to speak to these people they would realise how many people want to work but how there is simply not enough jobs for them to take! If i could take more people on, I would!! seriously it is heartbreaking!

Of course unemployment rises because there is no recession and most people quit their jobs to claim the dole.

'Slackers are stifling the economy': PM told to allow bosses to sack lazy workers

Quote:
Firms would be able to sack lazy and unproductive staff without giving them a reason under a radical reform of employment law being considered by David Cameron.

A report commissioned by Mr Cameron has recommended banning workers from claiming unfair dismissal so that companies and public sector bodies can find someone prepared to work harder. The radical plans are contained in a study by venture capitalist Adrian Beecroft.

He branded current employment laws ‘terrible’ and said that they are making it difficult for employers to find the workers they need.
A final draft of the Beecroft report, dated October 12, refers to ‘the terrible impact of the current unfair dismissal rules on the efficiency and hence competitiveness of our businesses, and on the effectiveness and cost of our public services’.

Too much red tape! We hate employment law! However the top rated comments include:

Quote:
Who decides on the definition of 'lazy'? What if the worker isn't lazy, but the boss wants rids of them to save money, give the job to a family member? What if they've got cancer and the boss doesn't want the inconvenience of a sick worker? Perhaps then we'll be 'as competitive as China' and we can just run our kids over because they cost too much? Words fail me.
