Aren't older workers the ones likely to cop it? They'll be at the top of pay scales, and might be in line for (relatively) decent redundancy packages. As I've said before, on the "if the Mail readers got what they wanted" thread, it makes me laugh about how some of them moan about employment protections. Though given the comments here, I might have been unfair on them.

Still the thought of a few Mailites being kicked out the door and replaced by "useless youngsters who know nothing" is quite entertaining.

Yep, that's normally the case. It's either upper management making a short-sighted decision by themselves, or, more than likely, they've got some flavour of consultant in who will just tell them what they want to hear (for a large fee, of course).

I'm surprised by some of the comments on there, too - particularly the ones decrying middle management as a set of useless tossers. Harsh... but fair.

Nearly. I think the area of skin immediately adjacent to the fold is called the 'dignity'.

I was hearing the other day all about how my wanker ex-employer spent a fortune getting IT consultants in. He thought every penny was justified when they came to tell him portentously how the system had been hacked and he needed to spend another fortune making the system safe, and he also needed to sack the in-house IT lot who hadn't protected the system properly and employ the consultants instead. Wanker ex-employer swallowed it all and was about to sign another massive cheque, until the in-house IT manager did some investigations of his own and discovered that it was the consultants who were the hackers. Using the passwords they'd been given by the firm. As the IT manager said, it was almost insulting that they were too dumb to try to cover their tracks.

Carlita's present firm almost came a cropper with nearly the same thing and she almost lost her job. In that case it was some crooked "Sales Consultants". Set of bastards - I've got their number marked.

In which the Mail carries on monstering Maxine Carr in a predictably biased and misleading report. Interestingly, the majority of the comments tell them to leave her alone, and most of those which obediently follow the Mail line are heavily red arrowed.

What is really irritating is the whingers going on about the expense of giving her a new identity. Does it not occur to them that if the likes of the Mail hadn't made her out to be a new Hindley it would be totally unnecessary?

I had just come here to post the same article. I am seriously impressed at the comments.... maybe there is hope.

Has This Morning gone too far? Naked model has intimate check for testicular cancer on live TV

Was This Morning right to show a naked model being intimately examined for testicular cancer?
Yes 66%
No 34%

Comments indicate Mailites have "no problem" with it but strangely they don't know who to direct their ire at, with regards to who bought the subject up. It's the Mail you should be moaning at!! They're the ones who wanted you to be outraged.

Here's a little mischievous thought. If "This Morning" were replaced in all parts by "The One Show", I wonder if the outcome would have been the same..?

There is a comment mentioning the BBC but I can't make much sense of it..

Quote:
For God's Sake, Richard Madeley did this years ago on BBC, and you, the puerile minded DM, try to hype it with a SCREAMING headline. Utterly pathetic double standard reporting.

- JosieB, Kent, 1/11/2011 13:14

Then there were these guys, so used to the BBC bashing in the Mail they thought the story was about the BBC.

Quote:
It may very well save lives but if you think that's the motivation for the piece, think again. This is all about the BBC offending as many people as it can in middle England. Remember the piece they did on sexual positions? What was the motivation there? If a single life is saved by accident then I applaud that but for Heavens sake don't think they have your best interests at heart. They do not.

I hope the BBC will learn from this mistake and never let this kind of thing happen again.

England fans outraged after World Cup player Peter Reid is seen on TV kissing Maradona's 'Hand of God'

They haven't got quotes from anyone who is "outraged" or even mildly peeved. Not even from the internet. They're getting it in the neck in the comments.

Maybe if parents were more open and honest with their children, we wouldn't have the highest level of teen pregnancy in the EU. When you take the taboo out of something it takes away the secret ism and excitement in it. Also how many of you take your children on foreign holidays were in many mainstream tourist resorts these items are on the shelves next to everyday items in the resort supermarkets!!! MAYBE and I stress MAYBE it is your own hangups you are projecting???
