Thatcher state funeral to be privatised
Responsible department: Cabinet Office

In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalised economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded.

Signed it few days ago but I really don't agree with these stupid e-petitions. Also, from what I understand she's not up for a "state" funeral anyway.

We gather that Cameron is pushing for it, and a Committee has been formed.

It's news in Armenia.

http://www.armtown.com/news/en/trt/20111212/192367

cites the Daily Mail as a source - so treat it with caution.

Quote:
However, Lady Thatcher is understood to not want members of the public to file past her coffin

How thoughtful. Removes worrying about whether to dance or piss.

PFI. That's the way forward. I'm sure Mrs Thatcher would approve of private companies picking up the initial bill and our grandchildren paying for it throughout their life time.

You mean she'd approve of the last 'labour' government's reckless immoral and irresponsible pandering to the private sector?

Yes she would. Because, as a lot people on here agree, Blair's NeoLabour were nothing more than corporate toadies and a continuation of Thatcherism.

You'll have to try better than that if you want to provoke a response.

Odd they were all so devastated when the chief architect of PFI Gordon 'prudent' Brown wasn't elected to lead us to glory and prosperity at the last election, then.
